Does this not ring any bells for you?
fanatics = bush's support of vetoing stem cell research---THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE in interest of the people except to satisfy his political base
rich- corporations, 3rd generation rich (paris hilton) who reduce social mobility, that lobby in the goverment to retain their interests -0--they fund them after all
the mobs---stupidity and ignorance---is vetoing the stem cell research and hurt millions of americans to satisfy the childish antics of the ignorant, just shows the tolerance of stupidity. This is what usually degrades societies to degrade away from higher intellecual thought.
The political parties are degenerate sleazes with no respect by the people...have lost all face and are spineless flip-flops to public opinion, to lobbyists and votes.
is this not the beginning of other countries taking over our political base, since they ahve a larger economic stake--(they represent more people, interests) than the american peop

you know, I was reading history...democracies...and it sounds very familiar to their systems....the spineless politicans, etc...
before everything went downhill....
I mean, we have a very good system, remmember that our present system is the evolution of greek beggoting rome (rome was last place greece conquered), rome begotting england (england last place rome conquered), and england begotting america (america last place england conquered, unless you concider hong kong, that could represent the rise of China).
In other words, we are the royal blood line to the evolution of the political system of the Greatest empires...
We have a good system, the cornerstone of success being our checks and balances and our desire for freedom. But we may have to change our values...like include some more meritocratic respect toward the elderly and academics, while not respecting the materialistc rich whodid not deserve it, and meritocratic and socialistic compoinents (more open mind) in gov

furthermore, I think we will need more security, more socialistic and meritocratic components in gov.
We can get more security without having to limit our liberties.

no, it won't be anarchy, or a release, what you most seek, but it'll be oppression, it will be repression of your release....

venemont,
your saying that we should not tie the degenerate political climate to our own because its not an accurate representation of the american people, and therefore a fall in our empire.
You say that our judgement is the key for us, and that we are in an evolutionary process that will yield, as you say, a better day.
You say we are in denial of a world that is neither going to turn for the better, or for worse, and also in denial that we, will have nothing to do with the fate of our world.
You seem very religiously bent...very "fate" bent with your cryptic stupidity.
So basically what your saying, is that you have a 'feeling' that we are not going to go down, and we should not listen to politicians, but our own judgement.
I think I am giving you too much credit.
But if that is the case, I agree, we are not going to go DOWN---but we should evolve, and be more open minded.

In other words, democracy is not GOD and the holy grail, we can put socialist components, more meritocratic components (just take the ivy leagues as the example, I am sick and tired of trying to justify how there are "absolute values" to a bunch of morons.....just get the recruiting station at harvard to run a goverment for christ sakes) to evolve our system..
It doesn't HAVE to be one day, we should always strive for transparency, liberty, equality, etc, etc. ...but not hell bent on a degenerate political system, etc, etc.

At first blush, what you're saying seems to make sense. The way manufacture of strategic items with exacting tolerances are made more perfectly, say, in a space station rather than under the plethora of impinging dynamics, known and unknown, right here on earth.
Us? A royal blood line? What Aristotle said? Present policy? Temporal aims in a universe whose sole guaranteed factor is a constant state of flux?
When Machiavelli wrote The Prince it was under three concommittants.
1. ) I'm - a no like -a de jail. So I'm - a wanna gedoudahere.
2. ) Personal hands on application and experience in the political circles of his day.
3. ) Projection.
They say you shouldn't live in the past. But, then, isn't that precisely what a political analyst does when he reports to a head of state? Read him back yesterdays' news?
The degenerative political climate shouldn't be relegated to our own. It's a manifest condition all over. We shouldn't be listening to gossip or fear mongers let alone self professed ' insiders ' who know how to ' bend an ear ' and hustle up a good front.
We have to use judgement. Effecting a change for the better? Not likely. A gross denial is in fact in effect. Worldwide. With no precedent. My ' feeling ' is ... there's really nothing to worry about.
Better days; to put it ludicrously mildly, are in fact, on the way. But not at the behest or operation of mere man. Another brilliant bit of denial the world is now engaging in in the light of this fact. I say the following benignly as was said at Waterloo;
" Sauve qui put " ( Hope I got that right. Shoot me otherwise. )
Hope my two cents helped.

Democracy works better in smaller units. The USA is to large a unit and the politicians are to far removed from the people they represent. The Federal government needs to break into smaller units for more direct democracy.

I've studied Aristotle, but apparently not enough-I've never heard of this.
I agree with some of your points, but I'm not convinced a Democracy-well in THIS Administrations' case it is a DICTATORSHIP-is the best. Democracy is all about greed and who can claw their way to the top while killing everyone else.
No respect for human life or the dignity of it.
