Things would be louder for sure. You will not hear things "farther away" than you would normally. There have been some people who have fairly normal hearing who utilize some of the mild gain directional hearing instruments when going into some situations where there are lots of people in order to hear better in background noise. I have not fit any instruments on people with normal hearing.

Don't think you will have bionic ears if you use hearing aids with normal hearing.

If you were using a removable hearing aid, possible damage would depend on the volume control on the device. If it set to very low amplification there is almost no risk of harmful degradation to the aural nerves. The louder it is set, the higher the potential for future hearing loss. This same type of damage can be caused by the stereo headphones you plug into your CD player or i-pod. The other type of hearing aid is a surgical implant, which is only used in proven cases of deafness of extreme hearing difficulties. But, dude - if you could hear perfectly fine, wouldn't sticking the Miracle Ear in the side of your head be kind of...silly?

Klo-Mann:
If you mean the first thing that would happen, you would hear sounds louder than before. Hearing loss or dependence is not that immediate!

well, i wore hearing-aids for 15 years.....* i choose not to wear them now* but i use to let people ( my brother and sister) play with them and wear them around, and it will not affect your hearing but you will notice whne you take them out that for the first couple minutes you hear differently untill your ears adjust to your regular hearing.......the answer....Nothing will happen!!!! have fun

It just makes things louder. It might be like going to an extremely loud rock concert.
