The Shuttle is a vertical take off craft.Only vertical take off has to achieve the escape velocity.Vertical take off needs the most power because it is directly opposing gravity the entire time. With the appropriate engines and fuel a runway take off craft would be more efficient. You would just keep traveling until you reached the space station. With a runway take off craft you would not have to achieve the escape velocity.Once in space you would accelerate to the velocity of light or faster and be on Mars in no time.If there was any trace oxygen in space you could scoop oxygen at the velocity of light. You would be traveling so fast that the concentration of oxygen would be high. The ship could even scoop reserve oxygen.I suspect that you will see liquid oxygen/hydrogen at the velocity of light.

Nope. But I take my hat off to those who will. You get a very unhealthy dose of radiation. I suffer from seasickness. You'd be completely vegetarian. No booze. You're cooped up in living quarters the size of a trailer with the others. Not to mention the danger.

Being able to access the Internet, so that I can have virtual dates and virtual sex. Wait! I will have to wait for more than 10 minutes to get a response from the Earth. So I cannot not have virtual sex. No way! I won't go.

Hi,

No, cause I have other things to do than travelling to Mars. If I am to go on vacation I prefer somewhere more comfortable.

My answer is no.

No way...I don't want to be away from my home and family that long. But, hey, send me a postcard!

Now, a two-week vacation to the moon with a reasonable chance for safety...I am there!!!
