It's like stopping medical schools from dissecting bodies.

How can science move into the future, when our President's brain is in the Dark Ages?

I support the presidents Veto for two reasons. The first is I am a firm believer that life is created the instant that the sperm and egg combine. The bill that was being pushed through congress would have supported both Adult stem cell research (umbilical cord and bone marrow...from living humans are used with this research) and the stem cells that come from aborted babies. I support stem cell research when adult stem cells are being used. i don't support taking stem cells from a murdered child. Umbilical cord stem cells research is looking very promising. Doesn't it seem like a better idea to try to find cures without killing anything that is alive.

The other reason is the money that would fund this stem cell research would come from the take payers...You and me....you may think that stem cell research is worth that money but i see it as murder. It isn't right to have someone pay for something that they see as murder...

It stinks, but if you look at the Republicans that supported it in the senate, most don't have been against stem cells and only voted for it so they could say they did when they are running in primaries. It was a cheap way for the right to look like it was moving against an unpopular president.

Absolutely NOT. It is a sad day for the living. These embryos will most likely be incinerated. These cells will be what leads to the cure for the diseases that ruin our lives. They are a glob of cells with no chance for life outside the womb. Pure political bullsh#t to appease the ultra right.

No. I asked the same question. Did you see him surrounded
by children - that was creepy. He should have surrounded by
disabled people.
This issue is a real sore spot with me. You should check out my
question & the answer that got best - the last part of the answer
says it all.
Our president needs an education & a reality check.
One guy answered that, he guesses he'll never get out
of his wheelchair - I don't know if he's for real, but I know
they're alot of people who are in wheelchairs, or have diabetes,
or know someone who has alzheimers, who have had their
hope taken away. It sucks.

Murdered babies don't get to check a box on an organ donor card. Seriously, they're getting screwed as it is, what with the whole murder thing and all, do they really need their dead corpse mutilated as well, whether they would consent to it or not?

Not to mention the fact that medical science is in agreement (ohmystars!) that adult stem cells produce far better research results then infant stem cells. So before you go criticising Mr. Bush (not that I particularly like his overall performance either), check and make sure that YOUR organ donor box is checked! I know mine is.

No, I don't. My father is suffering from Parkinson's disease and I see how debilitating it is. They are just going to throw away these embryos anyway, so why would the President not want to use them for research and possible discovery of a cure for so many illnesses? It's very sad. And very wrong.

Yes, I support President George W. Bush's veto. Thank God he's President.

He has destroyed the hopes of people suffering from diabetes, spinal injuries, alzheimers and many other diseases that could have been cured. He is a total disaster as a president.

Bush said "This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others. It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect."

If you cheapen life by just throwing it away at human willo, then you cheapen all of life. It's that simple.
