Because thinking up unique thoughts has the same function that a light bulb has......or rather what I want to say is that a unique thought has the same function that "light" does in the way it opens up new things to the mind.

Let me explain.
In pitch black darkness, there is no way for a human being to find out what his/her surroundings are. This is what light is to humans. It is what lets them see what is before them. To humans, light is essential, and without it there would have been no development or improvement for mankind. Hence it is written in the Bible that light was created before anything else had shape or color. Light was the first necessity in seeing what the world had to offer humans.

A unique thought is a thought that no one else has had before. Everyday millions of people have unique thoughts but fail to realize the value of their mind. However, for the unique thoughts that actually are mentioned on to reach other people's ears are thoughts that are remembered as unique in many people's minds. It is a way of thinking that could be applied to almost anything which opens a way to other unique thoughts that must also be studied. Without these unique thoughts, humanity would have no guidance as to how it should mature. Because of these unique thoughts, we as humans are able to see the further possibilities and potential of mankind. Without unique thoughts, which would mean to have everyone thinking the same things, how would it be possible to find our way through the mind of mankind? Without guidance, there is no meaning to our existence. To humans, these unique thoughts are the lights which illuminate your current situation and help you decide what the next step to take in your life is.

It is the unique thoughts of a person or the method of thinking that drives one to be ambitious, to grow desires and greater desires and even greater ones so that one day we as humans will have completed our ultimate mission; eternal survival of humans in this universe.

In the same way, it is light that provides us with the information to decide how to improve and change the world around us. Without it, completing our mission is impossible.

This is the way I find similarity between "light" and "unique".

Another reason may be this.
If you turn on a light in a dark room, the moment the light becomes present in the room, you immediately see how everything looks around you and as you look around, you realize which parts you perceived in a different way when you had to feel your way around without light.

Assuming that the word "brilliant" was used to describe a thought as "unique" by a person with a great mind, this person must have known the feeling of clarity one can feel by fitting a unique thought into his previous theory of incomprehensible madness and realizing how it had all been so simple. One unique thought can open your mind up to many other possibihlities and once you realize the fundamentals of thinking, a unique thought will bring you many other thoughts that are similar in logic but unique in content.

just a thought.
