Seeing as you said your are in your 30's and no one here gave you the shiznet. "Here it is"

For night life in Houston, check out MBAR in downtown houston.
For the west side of houston, check out all 30 bars on the Richmond strip.

For day time fun, head to galveston, Hwy I-45 south, take the 61st exit, turn right on 61street, go all the way to the Seawall Blvd., turn left to see all the cool places, if you go right all you will see is beach houses and not much else. If you want some fun walking around their hit the strand and have a drink at Yaga's Bar, great bands on friday night, especially if Sanza is playing their.
Another bar is locate down the strand to the left if you are facing Yaga's Bar about 4 blocks, it's on the south side of the street.

On your way back from Galveston, head north on I-45 to the league City exit, turn right and go all the way down to Kemah,Tx. where their is a board walk with lots to see, they have a high performance power boat over 60' which go's well over 60MPH and hit's the bay for rides, take one, you will have a blast. Make sure to sit on the port/Left, side of the boat, for a (Better view).

While in Kemah,Tx. go to T-Bone Toms back yard party for a live band which starts at around 5pm, nice people and great music.
It's located on Hwy 146, and has parking in the back also.

After you leave their, go toward Seabrook,Tx which is North, or to the right heading out of Kemah, go over the bridge about two miles ahead, turn left on Nasa Road one, about 4 miles ahead on the left is the Seabrook Beach Club, has a real fun time on Wed,Sat, Daytime on Sundays. Bring your swim suits if you want they have a kicken pool out back.

That should keep you busy, for a week or so, I you want more info. just email me.

If you visit the new Schlitterbahn waterpark in Galveston, DO NOT GO ON THE WEEKEND. Way too crowded. The best day to go is Tuesday. But it's a blast!!! The strand in Galveston is alot of fun for shopping.

Kemah, between Houston and Galveston, is alot of fun, but a tourist trap. For a better feel of what the locals do, check out the shopping and bars that set in the Lighthouse District, right before you hit the hussle of the boardwalk. Monkey Bar, Palapas, and a new wine bar are all in walking distances of each other. Locally owned, not part of the "Landry's monopoly" which is the Kemah boardwalk. However, if you happen to hit Kemah on a Thursday, check out "Rock the Dock". That's a blast, even though it is right in the middle of the boardwalk.

In Houston, there are always fantastic concerts going on, festivals, sporting events. Awesome nightlife downtown. I would suggest parking on the outskirts and possibly riding the Metro light-rail in.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Why add Houston in that mix. Galveston is cool and maybe Corpus Christi, but Houston? There is a bad to the bone TX state aquarium in Corpus. I recommend that. Then you could slip over to The Boiling Pot in Rock port for some great food. The main drag in Rock port has a lot of curio shops and on the bay side of the drag there is an awesome Mexican food joint. The food is plentiful and is really good. We never miss that stop on return trips and the price is most definitely right.

The panitarium in herman park in houston is really cool.at night they usually put on a laser light show and it is awsome. They also have the zoo and the fine arts museum in the same area.In downtown houston off of main street, you can go to the rocky horror picture show,it is a live show and is very interesting.you get to throw food and stuff at the actors.A little further down the road towards galveston, you have the nasa space center which is very interesting. You also have the Kemah boardwalk on the bay.In Galveston,It is ineresting and very good food on the sea wall at the rain forest cafe.Stewart beach is about the best beach there. They also have moody gardens which has alot of good activities. The Schliterbaun has just opened up a new water park and is awsome.

Good luck on you trip

In Houston, there are plenty of nice nightclubs and bars, there is one for every type of person (given your age, a good suggestion is Opus in the Downtown area). There is also the Theater District where you can see a broadway play (The Lion King is showing right now), or an opera, or ballet, or a stage play depending on your tastes. There is also the Angelika in the Theater District; its a chic movie theater where they tailor to the indy type and documentary films. There is good shopping in the Galleria and Rice Village. We do have lots of sports teams if you want to check out a game. There are lots of good restaurants and nice hotels. We have plenty of musuems if you are into them.

Galveston has the beach, the new Schlitterbahn, some good nightlife: clubs, bars, etc., lots of good restaurants

Houston, you could go to midtown, for some nightlife, bars and nice atmosphere and no "kids" running around. there are also great restaurants around, you should look up " The Pueblito Place" great restaurant.

Galveston:
walking around Seawall BLvd. in Galveston, would be nice, they have tons of restaurants and lil shops to go too.

not to mention the beach is right in front of everything,

you should totally book, the San Luis Resort, soooo nice and best of everything

have fun

Very important info...
I have lived in Houston ALL MY LIFE....33yrs..
Galveston does have some cool bars, and little shops to go to, however,
DO NOT GO IN THE WATER!! It is NASTY, if you are looking to have a good time and frolic in the water...Do go to Corpus Christi, MUCH nicer, and the beaches are beautiful...My husband and I took our kids last year, and we still found sand-dollars in the water......White sand, nice water, cool people.....
