Any kind of meditation. You can join a class to learn, then do it on your own, or read a book. Personally I practice "Zazen" (look it up on internet, been around for 1000's of years, I think it originated in Okinawa or China, also there are books on it. My martial arts Sensei taught it to me as a part of the art. We do it at least once/day for 30-40-minutes, sometimes 2-3 times/day. It also builds core strength. Yoga & Tai Chi, or Chi Gong works great also, I have seen people healed from diseases from all of these methods, because stress kills, sometimes even causes cancer & other diseases.(my gout was brought out by stress, I haven't had an attack in years since I've learned how to cope w/ the stress. You'll also live longer & I know sometimes I was an asshole when I was stressed, I even went to jail, but not anymore! Good Luck! Learn how to clear your mind. I had the help of a Psychologist also, I learned a lot of cognitive techniques to control stress. My Martial Arts Training also prepares you to handle life as it comes to you mentally, then as a last resort, physically. You're never too old to learn, there are 80 yr. old Men & women in one of my Tai Chi Classes. You have to change your lifestyle, anything temporary will only act like a band aid, as soon as it falls off your problems will return that rollercoaster is a bummer, trust me I went through it.

try taking a hot bubble bath & curl up with a magazine or a book. Or watch a movie that you like to get your mind off of your stress. If your neck is bothering you - you may want to lie down on a heating pad and relax or buy one of those thermacare heating pads for your neck. They work good and heat for up to 8 hours.
