i found a new job and gave two weeks notice at my present job, and i've been working part-time at the new job around my old schedule in the meantime. well, today i logged on to the same website i found this new job at, and i saw an opening for the same position, same qualifications, and same weird schedule as the job i was just hired for. the difference is that the posting says to contact a job placement agency for further info and the one i responded to had the name of the actual employer and the contact email to send resumes to. it's also the same type of business. these are too many similarities for it to be a coincidence, right??? i'm totally being replaced after only a few days of working part-time there? i thought i was doing well though!!! what do you think?

p.s. i still browse jobs because i'd like to have a second job, not because i'm already thinking of replacing the new job i just found.

Communicate with your boss. Ask him how you are preforming at your job, ask him what you can do to improve, and let him know how happy you are to be working there.

Not necessarily. It's quite possible that your employer forget to tell the placement agency that the position is now filled. Or perhaps the placement agency has been notified that the position is filled and has not yet pulled the listing. You are assuming that businesses are perfect. They screw up and neglect to update their information. . And the whole thing could be a coincidence. Stranger things have happened. Don't get yourself all worked up.

Some temp companies use jobs that aren't really available to get peoples attention. When someone calls or faxes their resume it for the "pool" not that specific job. I've called temp companies may times about jobs in the paper or online only to be told they were already filled. Job placement companies have to fill positions fast to maintain their reputations, so by the time one is published it's been filled for as much as a week.
I wouldn't panic yet.

I'm currently building my business as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and am looking for sharp, positive women to join my team. There are four reasons women become MK consultants: 1. Money, 2. Flexibility, 3. Fun, 4. Hope. The starter kit is $100 and comes with over $300 worth of product, so worst case scenario - it's the biggest compact you ever bought. Best case scenario - it could change your life. There's no pressure, no quotas, no boss. You will meet tons of great, positive girlfriends. I'm having so much fun and earning great money!

Take the Life Can Be Good quiz on my website to see if the MK opportunity is right for you:

I think that you are being paraniod they either need other people there for your job or simply they forgot to call the employment agency to take out the ad. When people use employment agencies its because they usually need people for a period of time to do similar things. Just do your best while you are there so you can hope that they will pick you up permenantly. Good Luck.

Could it have been posted before you were hired? Sometimes going through an agency might take longer so maybe it was posted for like two weeks or something, even though the position had been filled.

its a possiblity. They have 90 days to decide to keep you. I would talk to the boss and see how you stand so far at your new job- you can cancel your two week notice- as shameful and embarrassing as it is- it can be done! Ive seen it done by a coworker, and I myself backed out of a transfer at last minute. If you suspect u might not be hired for good, then just work their part time.

I myself, don't trust job placement agencies. They have a rep of laying ppl off after two weeks and hiring new ppl all the time. they do this because it's cheaper for them. My fiancee experinced this two times. They just like to play with ppl's minds. i suggest not getting a job thru them

The temp agency may have not taken it off the site yet. I hope that you signed an employment contract with the new company just to be safe.

Since you've only been there a couple of weeks and haven't invested years of your life at this job, I suggest getting up the courage to show this to your supervisor or whoever hired you and ask them what's up. If they are replacing you and you've given notice at the old job, yeah, methinks you might be screwed.

Be very adamant at telling your boss that the current schedule is temporary.
Stay punctual, and do your job well.
There could be another position open.

Talk to your boss.

No one on here can tell you what is going on there.
