Most people would never believe me if I told them how shy I really am and how shy I was as a kid. Usually now the only reason I would get shy is if I met a man that mesmerizes me. I have had to act as if I'm not shy a lot of times. I've also had to work out certain issues about myself.. my fears.. insecurities.. self worth.
Maybe it's time to make a written out list of the things you really like about yourself. Some of mine were compassionate, funny, kind, generous, good listener, care enough about people to tell them truth about what I see going on in their world... and so on. Now when I meet shy people I just jabber at them.. won't let them be introverted.. I'd probably drive you nuts LOL.. but I want them to feel welcome to just be themselves..and that I'm not a threat.. People can be pretty intimidating and threatening sometimes without even knowing it. Most of the time on the way to work I am saying little sayings to myself ... like.. "My co-workers are out for my best interest" (NOT) or "Guests are my friends" (most of them really are...) and "Management knows what they are doing"... LOL.. I've heard "fake it till you make it" I had to do that for a long time until I really felt like I was important and had valuable things to say.
