Freedom really begins in the mind. One's mind is free to think and believe whatever one wants. And until someone learns how to read minds, that freedom will always be there. I first learned this truth from reading a story about a Jewish prison in a Nazi death camp in World War 2.
Freedom in a country is a condition of life bound by specific laws. One is free to do anything permitted by the laws of their country and anything not prohibited by the laws of their country. The problem is that too many countries attempt to curtail any acts that would threaten the power of the ruling party. One might say that freedom is a condition of life with boundaries of faith in its people, and tyranny is a condition of life with boundaries drawn by fear and mistrust of the people.
I would wish freedom in law for you, but I pray freedom in mind and heart for you.

Here is what my (individual) american viewpoint will tell you; A government is supposed to be an aid to its citizens-in any country-it should be run by those citizens, and created/serviced by them as well (We The People). This entire group of citizens should be the sole proprieter of that government, and make their laws by what the majority feels is acceptable. Freedom in my opinion means that even the least of those citizens has a right to speak with their own voice to all the others, and NEVER be ridiculed or persecuted for it. I should be allowed to tell my leaders that they are idiots, because to never have that choice is to keep that idiot in a place of power over the rest of us, with no more choice in what we need or want as the citizens. Freedom for me would mean never to have fear of jail while I type this very note. At this point in time, I still do not have that fear in my country. It could very well change one day (I hope not) but at least there remain enough voices like mine to stop such a change, and still have the right to do so. I suppose that for me is Freedom.

Freedom is being able to do and say whatever you want, but never causing harm or distress to others, unless such insult or injury is essential for the greater good of society.

By this definition there are very few truly free societies (certainly not America, where it can prove very expensive to truly say what you feel, even where it is for the sake of the majority).

Britain has a reasonably free society by this definition, as the Prime Minister knows to his cost, when so often he has been publicly pilloried by ordinary citizens. But Britain is in danger of losing some measure of this freedom as the Government overreacts to the global threat of terrorism and introduces new laws restricting freedoms won over hundreds of years. Before it takes such actions, any Government of a free society should recognise that every restriction to existing freedoms is a victory handed to the terrorists.

Ramil, freedom is an abstract concept. No one could possibly define it clearly.
But for me, freedom is a TOTAL freedom...a condition wherein a person or thing is free/allowed to do something s/he wants without limitations from the surroundings.
Unfortunately Ramil, we're governed by lots of forces. Time for instance. We are governed by time. We born, we grow and after sometime, we die.
Here in the Philippines, many of our journalists die because of the concept of freedom of speech. Just like in your case there in Jordan. What we can do now is keep quiet and pray to God. Ramil, "Habang may buhay may pag-asa", which means "As long as we're living, there's hope". Don't lose hope. There would come a time that the "total freedom" that we want will be in our reach.

freedom is the government allowing people to make their own choices, but you know, you must be responsible for every consequence... being free means you can live your own lifestyle and not have to worry about the government suppressing you... however, there are still laws in the u.s.a that are completely reasonable like not or stealing, etc. freedom is wonderful and if you can ever experience that, its great, but you know there should be a person in charge, or else chaos will result and order is disrupted, the fact is... who would make a good leader... its hard to find one... so anyway, there's a lot more to freedom than just being able to do what you want, whenever you want, and however you want.. you need to take responsibility for your actions

An illusion! I live in United States of America! WE WANT FREEDOM! They have fooled you also!
I was born and breed here every since the beginning of America - members of my family have graced this land!
My friend, "freedom is an illusion," - we Americans just look like we enjoy it more than any other nation - but all of us that can trace our family back to America's beginning know "freedom is an illusion" - America and Americans are the best at putting forth this illusion!
But - it's a great place to be born - and I love this country - because we can speak our minds, express ourselves, and make the best of this great illusion - seemingly better than any other nation!
We are all truly "original."

i live in Jordan,

and what you are talking about is not true,,

what 's the definition of FREEDOM in your books?

here i can whatever i want as long as I'm not harming anybody else..

if u want to say anything about the government just say it in the right way,, there's many of parties against the government and they are not in the jail and doing well..

but the deference when you stand up against the government in illegal way,,
there's something called rules and systems, some of ppl just don't want to follow it.. and that's not freedom

Many people have different opinion about what freedom is. But I believe it is the ability to do what you want to do without harming anyone else. You must also have law to protect other people's freedom as well as your own, It is not anarchy but co-operation what make a people free.
