Apartments unfortunately have rather poor insulation, making these issues more common than they should be.
You could try additional carpeting or noise absorbent material, reorienting the speakers, etc.

You can be a considerate and nice neighbor and turn it down-the base really does carry and why would he say if its not true for no advantage to him. You can also continue playing too loud and keep on irritating your neighbor until the ploice is called. Every town, city, country and aso on has a noise ordinance which is if one can hear it in one's residence, property and so on then its in violation. If its a nice cop he'll more than likely give you a vernal warning th first time the 2nd time you'll get fined and so on.If you're really stubborn and don't catch on then your neighbor can\take you to court where you'll be found in violation and end up paying his legal fees and some monie to compensate him for the suffering he had to endure from your too loud music. So be smart avoid all this and turn it down. You'll still hear your stereo-try adjusting the base too-your neighbor will not hear it and you'll both be happy.

I'd try to come to some kind of compromise. Turn it down a bit. It sucks when you are downstairs and some dufus upstairs is stomping around and playing music too loud. People's ears are affected differently by different levels and tones of sound. That person was there first. I wouldn't want to piss someone off that quickly after I moved in.

Turn down the volume, or find a way to insulate the bass levels, or move your speakers so that they're not touching the floor.
You are in your right to play music if you wait until midday, but if it's still a nuisance to neighbors, you must still cooperate. That's the downside of living in stacked apartments.

There are spikes you can buy to put under your speakers that will prevent the bass from reverberating through the floor. That would be a nice gesture and then both sides are happy. You have to remember that people have babies that take naps and some people sleep during the day so it's nice to be cooperative with stuff like that.

You have to keep in mind that some people aren't on the same schedule as you and so what your awake time is is another persons nighttime. Stop playing your accordion el espanol waltz sh*t. I know your type exactly. And like that other guy said, buy your own house. Be an adult and show some consideration for others.

Since you're the new person in the situation. You should try to stay on good terms with the neighbors. Turn the music down. If they still complain , let them know you comprimised first maybe they could be a little comprimising also. Good Luck.

I live below the worst neighbors in the world. However they decide to run the entire length of their condo non stop. It may be that your building just has supersensitive walls and floors...such as mine. however just lower it a tad...not too much because if there isnt a rule of no music/noise at the time of day you are playing it (which there wouldnt be except at night) play your music.

Use headphones. Bass overhead reverberates throughout the whole apartment; it's maddening.
Or adjust your bass setting with the cooperation of the tenant and see if you can find a happy medium. Legally you're allowed to do it, but you do want to maintain a reasonable living situation.

You should learn from this that you spell bass this way when it refers to music, and this way (base) when it refers to the bottom of an object. Besides that all I can say is I have the same problem, I remind my neighbors that my rental contract states that quiet time is between 10pm and 9am. Anything before 10pm. or after 9am is the managers discretion, they should take it up with the manager.
