Smoke and the Chase
I have read so many articles on Tony being out of the Chase because
of the last race. I still think he's going to make it. His team
runs best in adversity and they sure have had alot of that this
year. Seems like he's been running with his head in the snake's
mouth all season. Bad luck has run amuck for the #20 team. There
for awhile I was beginning to think he was trying to fly upside down
instead of race. LOL

I think my face has been white as a sheet watching him wreck this
year more than any other year. As a friend of mine always
says, "Zippy needs to take the magnet out of his car so everybody
quits hitting him." Seems like there is something to that magnet
thing this season. Maybe Jeff Gordon or Matt Kenseth put one in
there and the crew should start looking...

I am looking forward to the race at Pocono because I believe in Tony
and he's going to show all these critics what kind of driver he is.
I can see the man doing a Dale Sr and coming from the back and
winning not just the race but the championship. If anyone can come
from 11th place and take it, it's Tony Stewart. I have confidence
in his driving abilities.

Everybody is saying that Tony is whining about Ryan Newman but every
word he said is true. If it wasn't the truth, yeah it would whining
but Ryan and a few others are extremely selfish on the track and
could care less about other's. Ryan knew he wasn't going to win so
why did he have to go after Smoke the way he did? If you look at
the past Ryan seems to like to mess with our beloved #20 driver.
However, it seems that not even five minutes later someone upstairs
decided to even the score for us.

So in closing, I wish Tony the best of luck this weekend and hope
he truly enjoys his week off between races. GO SMOKE!!! You can do
it if anybody can!

I think he will make the chase! I don't know about it happening this weekend, but he will move that way if not in it!

The new pic is a different look for you, in a good way! Maybe everyone will quit telling you you look like Jennifer Grey now, not that that's a bad thing and I see it too, it's just funny because they all say the same girl, just different movies (Dirty Dancing, Ferris Buller's Day Off)!

I guess you are really mad that I have an opinion...we both are obviously very opinionated people, it's a free country...don't get mad about it! I noticed you bad mouthed me in a couple comments, even on questions I didn't answer! For the record I really really dislike Jeff Gordon, I just think he was in the right with the Kenseth thing! I look at the race, I don't judge only based on my favorite driver! We both like Kahne in our top 5 (he's my number one pick)! I like Johnson you like Stewart, and we feel about the same on dislike the other! As far as me going off in the one question, sorry, I just think some of the things Stewart does is equal to or worse than what you yell about the other drivers doing! So...all that being said...truce?!?! If not, and you still want to "tell me off" reach me on my 360 page or my IM, but I will have words in return!

Tony will get more conservative on the race track. Instead of racing guys like Ryan Newman, he will start letting them go instead of creating a situation like last week at New Hampshire. I am convinced that he would not have dropped out of the Top 10 in points had he not raced so hard with Ryan Newman.

In any case, I wouldn't count Tony out of the Chase. There is more than enough time for that team to come back. You can bet that Zippy will be in Tony's ear making him look at the big picture.

What the heck is Suzette smoking? If he makes the chase, he's a minimum of interior the appropriate 12, hi? he will very somewhat make the chase and end interior the appropriate 5 of things. Tony the Tiger back in a chevy and Hendricks potential pushing him, please. Hell, i does no longer be stunned if the Hendricks 4 and Tony and Ryan all end interior the appropriate 10 at Daytona. Hendrick pushing Hendrick, you surely have a 6 vehicle group in case you somewhat think of roughly it!

I completely agree with you. Stewart is my number 2 guy (after Jr of course). He's a damn fine driver. Like #2 out there right now behind the rainbow warrior. If anybody can come out of the deep state of funk it's Stewart. Don't you worry at all. And I realize that people say Stewart's a whiner, but I follow him closely and it's my firm belief that the man's "whining" is vindicated after some of the crap that gets pulled on him.

Stewart suddenly in Chase trouble

By JENNA FRYER, AP Auto Racing Writer

July 17, 2006

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Tony Stewart once said he should be fired if he failed to make NASCAR's Chase for the championship.

If he truly believes that, then Stewart's job is currently on the line.

The defending Nextel Cup champion dropped out of the top 10 following a 37th-place finish at New Hampshire International Speedway. Stewart is now 11th in the standings, and time is running out on the drivers jockeying to claim one of the 10 spots in the Chase.

With seven races left to set the field, Stewart's not exactly in panic mode. But he should be slightly concerned, and he's got no one to blame but himself.

Stewart was leading the race Sunday when he stubbornly refused to let Ryan Newman pass him.

Newman was a lap down, so the pass was not for the race lead and Stewart had nothing to lose by pulling over and letting Newman go by. Newman had fresh tires, a faster car and, one way or another, was going to get by Stewart.

But Stewart was angry over the way Newman has raced him in the past, and simply would not give an inch of real estate away. It resulted in the two cars colliding as Newman closed in, and Stewart went spinning into the wall.

TV announcer Wally Dallenbach was only half-joking when he quipped that the smoke surrounding Stewart's car was not from the tires, but from Stewart's head.

He was still seething as he waited outside his Chevrolet for his crew to fix his damaged radiator.

Newman ``just took us out,'' Stewart said. ``We're starting to learn to race him like he races us and he doesn't give anybody a break so I wasn't about to give him a break.

``So, he'll just take me out then if you don't let him by. It's amazing how he expects you to let him by, but he doesn't give anybody that same courtesy.''

But Newman put the blame right back on Stewart.

``He didn't live up to what he preaches, and that's move over and let a faster car go -- especially a car on fresh tires trying to get a lap back,'' Newman said. ``He came down on us a little bit. I came up on him a little bit and we hit.

``He got the raw end of the deal. It didn't do us any favors, but he sure didn't live up to what he preaches.''

I don't think that anyone can say that Tony can't make it. I think he has a chance, we have all seen what he can do with a car. I am really proud of him for the year that he has had, he has learned to control his temper on the track. I used to get so upset with him when he would wreck his car to pay someone especially when he really had a chance at winning a race. That is his competitive nature & I applaud him for keeping it in check this year. Best of luck to him.

Smoke still has the drive to win the chase. He has amazed us many times before and now the show begins. When Smoke wants something there isn't much anyone can do to stop him (besides wreck him). Smoke is going to do it.

#20 all the way!!!

I would not count Tony Stewart out but he is going to have to really to his best driving for the next several races. He needs to be a little more conservative in order to get there.

Top 10 after Pocono? Possible, but there's too much that would rely on other drivers having bad days to make it all up in one race.

I fully expect him to make the Chase, though.

Go, Smoke!!!
