This person told me that we are friends and that he does not like me as more than a friend. He never flirts. We talk for hours, have similarities and want to meet one day. He is very kind and I think he is a genuine person but I wonder if he likes me as something more. How do I know for sure?

This person sends me songs and I mean we do talk for hours--many hours at a time. He tells me his personal past stuff and he wants to visit me and me visit him. He lives miles away. He went on vacation recently and spent his time sending sms to my cell. Plus he tells me that he talks to me more often than his other friends. I do not have any worries about being his friend and I know all about the scary stuff of meeting people on the Internet already--no need to fill me in on that issue. I have no plans to visit him either. I am just curious on how to tell if he is telling me the truth on whether or not he just wants friendship. Thank you.

I did a background check and got information--single and is from where he says he is from and no criminal history.

oh my gosh these are such great answers and I have a tie. I can not decide!!! yikes!! hmmmmm. I will have to put it up to a vote, but maybe the voters will not be logical. I don't know. I agree about talking on the phone--and did that --it is showing me much more that I needed but not too much yet. And I like the idea that guys who don't want to have sex with you tell you everything. well, this guy is pretty special and unique, not perfect, but I don't know for sure about that one, but it sounds good. hmmm what to do ..what to do :)

He just wants friendhsip. He probably never had good friends all his life, or ateast before you. That is why he is bent on being so close to you. That's all right with me. Nothing wrong in it.

Hmm... that is really hard. Perhaps you should ask for his phone number and call and ask some important questions. You can usually tell a lot about a person in his voice, or how quickly they respond. And instead of talking on line so much, have conversations almost always on the phone. Eventually, if there is anything wrong you will see him slip or something. And sometimes, you just get a bad, funny feeling. Listen to this feeling. It doesn't lie! Trust me, I've been cheated on the computer (like in my younger days playing neopets and stuff) when the people seem totally normal and they are just great liers!

How do you know if he's not married and playing both sides of the fence? How do you know he's not some loner or ole man in his 60's; you don't. How did he get your cell #? Your really putting yourself out there, when he made it clear from the beginning, he talks to you more than his other friends, as your probably on the computer when ever he is, are you getting maybe a little too pushy? Some girls are like that. If he wants to chat with you, let him do the chasing! Why take the mystery out of it? Try being mysterious.

you just never know with the internet, there are some genuine people, but also a lot of fake people, be careful and take precautions, and dont become too hung up on his every word, but there is no true way of knowing if he is telling the truth or not right, you either feel it and trust it, or you dont- and in relation to if he likes you more than a friend, well you should just ask him.

Mabey you just want him to be more than a friend, hence the background check. I think he is just looking for someone to talk to, guys sometimes dont want anything to do with being in a relationship. Im looking for people just to talk to in Phoenix right now, because I am moving there soon, but that dosent mean that I want to be in a relationship anytime soon.

Your going to have to ask in plain language I suppose, and as you already know I would think accept the answer as truthful or stop talking with the dude. Sound like he likes you, but maybe the cat is one of those shy types ( I wonder what that's like? ) that find it hard to express themselves.

If you really want to know...start talking to him on the phone. It's better than the internet, cuz you can at least hear tones of voice and how they talk. That would give you some extra insight into what he was like.

You don't until you meet them. The Internet is full of schemers.
