I think that there are those who seem keen to describe the current Middle East conflict as WWIII, though I myself am reluctant to describe it as such at the moment.

Right now, the conflict is fairly regionalized - the fact that it has spread to Lebanon as well as Palestine is disturbing, but hardly worthy of the title WWIII.

If Syria gets invlolved, the situation will border on the extreme, but until neighboring nations, such as Egypt and Iran, and world powers like Russia get involved, calling this conflict a world war is premature at best.

Additionally, before this could be called a truly global conflict, nations from other parts of the word would have to get involoved, such as North Korea (perhaps by taking advantage of global unrest to launch an offensive against the ROK). In other words, It ain't WWIII yet - but the jury is still out as to whether it will become that in time.

With the War on Terrorism (due to September 11, 2001, incidents), the War on Iraq, and MAYBE Bush and the government refusing many Latin American immigrants and immigrants from many other countries that are not affiliated with the Middle East, YEAH, we're on the verge of World War III!!!!

no, a world war means the whole world is involved and just because america is in a war dosent mean that it is WWIII. this country hasnt lost a war yet and if we back down now, who knows what will happen. i think people are just scared and think that just cuz President Bush has us at war that hes a bad President. Did everyone forget why were fighting anyway? Did Everyone forget that our country was under attack?

No. We are in a world war, want proof, take a look at how many different nations around the world are fighting/supplying the war and its efforts. Will they label it WWIII, who the heck knows. They just might call it the World's War on Terrorism.

properly the activities previous WWII are searching surprisingly equivalent to what's starting up to ensue excellent this second. in the subsequent 20 WWIII will be fought. it is kindof an exciting quote. Albert Einstein said he did not comprehend with what guns WWIII will be fought yet that WW 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.

On the verge? It's has already begun, and the worst is still yet to come. Read the book of Revelations in the bible. Everything that's happening is prophesy, From Katrina to the Disasters that are happening everywhere.

How can we be close to being involved in a world war if the whole world isn't involved yet? Besides we are already in one that's against terror, not the world. There are threats to us from other countries but theres no war with those people.

Yes, with everything going on it won't be long now. Things have gotten so bad that I don't think anyone can patch things up. Nobody is willing to surrender, if no one is first to lay down weapons how can anyone follow?? Nobody is willing to take the first step, bombing people is not going to make them lay down their weapons - if anything it makes them more violent. How is that going to help??
