It is still a little too early to tell; we'll know more a year from now.

Strangely, though, it looks like Hillary Clinton might actually be the favorite for the Democratic nomination, and if so, she will most likely win. I never would have believed that. (I neither like nor dislike her.)

If I had to pick a winner right now, I would pick Senator Clinton, but as I mentioned, it's far too early. For example, at this point in 1990, it seemed that President George H.W. Bush would almost run unopposed, because he was so popular that the prominent Democrats were afraid to run against him. As it turned out, the Dems had a crowded primary field, President Bush was challenged in his own party's primaries (by Pat Buchanan), a major independent candidate emerged (Ross Perot), and President Bush was defeated for re-election. So although predictions are fun, it's unlikely that any made now will be particularly reliable.

It's anyone's guess as to who the Republican canddiates will be; John McCain might run. I'm not sure whether to hope that "Condi" Rice will run: perhaps a campaign would expose her as the intellectual lightweight that she sure seems to be. But enough speculating for now....

Democrats:
John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Russ Feingold

Republicans:
John McCain, Bill Frist.

And the winning ticket is: Hillary Clinton and Richard Durbin of Illinois

Ok, I know a lot of women don't like Hillary, but when push comes to shove and its possible to put a woman in the White House, they'll vote for her. I'm not a woman and I know I will. And isn't it about time we had a woman president?

We'll have had a functional illiterate for close to 8 years by the time the 2008 elections are held - isn't it time we had an intelligent woman and Hillary Clinton is about as intelligent as they come and would make one helluva great president.

No. He might want to stay in till great Tuesday, that is next week. i do not imagine he's detracting form the approach, he talks about subject matters the others do not. there'll be a lot of time to prepare for the final election and they can attempt this at the same time because the popular procedure to boot.

you have to look at historical elections. the winner usually comes from out of nowhere. don't expect these people to win at all. jeb bush, hillary clinton, condi rice, joe liberman or john mccain. i think that john kerry could be a candidate. look at the polls of who is winning early in the race. it is usually accurate to determine the winner.

For the Democratic Party, barring something EXTRAORDINARY happening, it's gonna be Hillary Rodham (I think their split will be official by '08). The inner workings of the Democratic party hold absolute power over what happens in the primaries on the blue side of the aisle, and they are completely in line with Ms. Rodham. Sorry, John Kerry, Al Gore, Howard Dean, Joe Lieberman, John Edwards, Mark Warner, Christopher Dodd, Evan Bayh, Russ Feingold, Dennis Kucinich, and everyone else that wants to run, but, essentially, YOU'RE SCREWED!!!

On the other end, it is not as cut-and-dried as the McCainanites in the media would like you to believe. Right now, the Republican nomination is, quite frankly, a crapshoot. Trying to pick a candidate for 2008 is like trying to hit a fruit fly with a sawed-off shotgun at 30 feet: you really have no clue what you're going to get, but whatever it is, the collateral damage will be immense. Right now we have (and this is ALL speculation, as no one has officially declared candidacy as of yet):
John McCain (Sentor, Arizona)
Rudolph Giuliani (former mayor, New York City)
Condoleeza Rice (former Nat'l. Security Advisor, Sec. of State)
Tom Tancredo (Representative, Colorado)
George Allen (Senator, Virginia)
Newt Gingrich (form. Rep., Georgia, form. Speaker of the House)
Mike Huckabee (Governor, Arkansas)
Bill Frist (Senator, Tennessee, Senate Majority Leader)
Sam Brownback (Senator, Kansas)
Mitt Romney (Governor, Massachusetts)
Bill Owens (Governor, Colorado)
George Pataki (Governor, New York)
Elizabeth Dole (Senator, North Carolina)
Lindsey Graham (Senator, Florida)
Mike Pence (Representative, Indiana)
Chuck Hagel (Senator, Nebraska)
Tommy Thompson (former Governor, Wisconsin)
Jeb Bush (Governor, Florida)

As for my personal predictions, I do believe that the presidential ticket for the Democrats will be Rodham-Liebermann, and that even with Liebermann, Ms. Rodham will have absolutely no shot at victory.

Also, I believe that not one of the three current frontrunners will be the candidate, as Sen. McCain has to much animosity against him from conservatives (including me) to win the primary, with Giuliani bowing out, and with the 'Draft Condi' campaign not quite being strong enough to pull Ms. Rice into the dance.

And so, I believe our next President and Vice President will be two of these three: Tom Tancredo, George Allen, and Newt Gingrich, with my official prediction being President George Allen and Vice President Tom Tancredo.*

*note, all predictions are subject to change between now and 2008. This prediction simply reflects the evidence as of 19 July 2006, with the presidential elections still being 2 years and 3&1/2 months away.

I would love to see Hillary go for it. I just don't think the masses are ready for a female president yet.

I just hope it's a democrat, and a democratic house. Because these republicans have screwed us enough.
