It has nothing to do with whether or not they got succesful. The worst part is being "mainstream": some people only like them because they're popular, some people don't listen to any of their pre-A.I. music, and nearly all of them completely overlook any message that might be part of the music.

Some people may not like a band after it gets popular because it tends to change the band, maybe gives the band a more commercial sound and a different attitude in the music.
My opinion of punk-sounding music is that it sounds best when it has a raw sound. When a band gets more popular, there will be more production to the sound and it may be less appealing to some people.

I am gonna answer this one again just casue most people are going the sell out way. Most every human being would sell out for the right price. If I had a record company offering me a couple of million to sing this one song that they think should be on the album i would do it. Also, if you are truly loyal to a band it should not matter what they do. So sell-out or not they are just after the american dream...........alot of money in the bank

No matter what anyone says, once a band goes mainstream, their record label gets some say in what songs get played. And most likely, the record label wants to make their singles the more poppy-likeable songs. SO those songs get overplayed and they aren't even the best work of the artist. That can get annoying.

People tend to be stupid. They think that because the band is getting played on the radio, they've sold out. What people fail to realize is that pop is short for popular. Which just means that people are listening to the band, not that they're a pop artist necessarily. But again, people are mostly stupid.

This has gotten me a little bit puzzled too. I guess it goes with that theme "i have to be unique". They think the bands are sell outs and only want fame and fortune. They might also want to be able to boast about their "music knowledge" and feel good about knowing something others don't know. It can deal a whole lot with pride.

Basically its because it gets annoying when you go to their shows and there's about 200 screaming 12 year old girls who go crazy over the band's looks and don't really care about the music.

Do you really want to have something in common with everyone else? I sell insurance, live in the suburbs, am white, and listen to underground rap. I would think less of my music choice if my neighbors started blasting Necro out their windows as they drive.

They think they sell out. Creativity gets set aside for the sake of commercialism (MONEY).
