Honey... that's too little for the baby. Is your doctor a pediatrician? Is your baby putting on the weight she needs? Your baby should be getting between 2-3 oz. every 3 hours. You feed your baby as much as she wants (or up to 32 oz. per day). Didn't the hospital tell you... feed on demand. That means when baby cries and wants to eat, you feed them.
Have you tried nursing her? Your breastmilk will agree with her so much better than formula. If you're not able to breastfeed, try switching your current formula to one that's better for spit-up. As for this constipation... your baby needs more fluids, not less.
I think you need to find another doctor... or at least get a second opinion. You can also call the hospital where you delivered and speak with the nurses. They can be very helpful.
Good luck... and don't wait on that second opinion.

my daughter is 6 weeks old now and drinking 4 oz. every 3 hours. When she was a newborn she drank anywhere from 2-3 oz every 2 hours. I think thats crazy the doctor is telling you to cut her down. If shes hungry you feed her, dont deprive your child your going to make her and yourself go crazy. If I were you i'd look for a different doctor and get a second opinion. You may just need a different formula, or it could just be a temporary thing.

i think if shes hungry feed her. My mother had this same problem with my baby sisters. One of which was put in the hospital for like 3 days becuase no matter what kind of formula she just wouldnt hold it down finally they found one she would hold down. With my youngest sister the same thing, but due to the other experience they cauht on and got her diffrent formula before anything bad really happen.

i would feed her as much as she wants. try breastfeeding her, it is much better for her. babies will spit-up and some are prone to constipation. after feeding her burp her well. if she doesn't burp well, that might be why she's spitting up. as far as the bowel movements, she needs fluids- feed her often. my baby was the same way. he would spit- up alot and was constipated. i was breastfeeding and supplementing formula. my pediatrican recommended burping often and as long as he had a bowel movement once a day or even every two days it was fine. longer than that i would go back to the doctor. good luck and best wishes!!

All babies are different but you are not feeding her too much if you don't want to or cant breast feed you really should try changing her milk to a soy based formula, if you arent already you should apply for WIC they will help you too.

I would say feed her until she's full maybe try 1 ounce and a half. My babies doctor told me to cut it down too but I'm not gonna make my son cry all day because they said cut it down... u kno? Your baby is the judge on if she's full or not. I hope this helped.

my guess is she is either allergic to milk or has gastric reflux disease. no u are not feeding her to much, both of my sons ate 2 ounces every 2-3 hours at that age... my younger son has severe gerd and he spit up a lot.. he also cried nonstop around the clock, u should check up on that with another doc.. since the one u have isn't helping

She is probably lactose intollerant and needs to have her formula changed to a soy base formula...try similac advanced formula.may sure you check with a doctor first before doing so.
