What steps should be taken to put it out of its misery? Also do you think my insurance would cover this if surgery is required?

The crawdad is one of the only living beings that can sustain itself in the human digestive system. As it has body armor and tolerates extreme conditions in polluted waters, the human stomach is ideal for its survival. You may pass it naturally, unless it fastens itself to the lining of your stomach or intestines, in which case it will likely grow too large for your body and rip through the softest part of the tissue in the area in which it anchors itself. I wouldn't worry too much about its misery. It will be fine. And don't have the surgery - man up. You swallowed it, you should let the chips fall where they may...

You sound fairly calm for someone who swallowed a crayfish. I think if you really did that, it's all in your head, your stomach acid would kill the little stinker! If you're not shitting us, then you need to call your doctor, or ER, pronto! And why wouldn't insurance cover any surgeries or procedures. Isn't that what health insurance is for? OMG, my Aunt works for life insurance, and you should hear the stupid crap people get claims money for! This world is full of idiots, so stop swallowing crawdads, and stop being an idiot!
