As in taking a test? I really have no idea how to study math except do the assigned homework. I'm a big fan of flash cards. those always work for me in other classes. FYI. Thanks

BTW I'm in college. Work 3rd shift at a Nursing home and have a husband and daughter. Study groups aren't that practical for me.

Use flash cards to memorize constants, and formulae. However the only way to practice problem solving is to answer questions.

If your college library has copies of old exams available for study purposes, this is your best bet. Studying from this will let you know exactly what you should know which helps you identify which areas you need to study more, and which you have down cold. This helps you use your time before the exam more effectively.

If you don't have access to old tests and exams, make a study sheet as you go through the semester. Each day after doing your homework, write down some of the more complex questions (the ones that require understanding of the entire issue) on a separate sheet. Write the answers (not the solutions, though) on a separate sheet. Keep a running list of these questions, and when test time comes, this will be your complete study sheet. Work through these questions to study for the test.

Hope this helps!
Good luck.

In my case, I study the theory, the very fundamental equation and how the other equations were derived. This will enable me to absorb the topic and help me answer problems whatever the variations are. Also it is best not to wait for homeworks...solve problems as much as you can so you will learn the variations in the topic. Memory aids and Flash cards w/ formulas are perfect too. Always get enough sleep before exams. No matter how hard you study but if you lack sleep...you may black-out and forget all the formulas you were trying to memorize.
...hope this helps. study well!

First do not put up a math shield. Learn your time tables by heart. When they are in your memory bank they rest come easy. Also once you learn the method of doing fractions, geometry and algebra follow suit. It helps to have a good teacher.

Probably the best is to do a bunch of problems. Even better is to do them with a group of friends so you can help each other if you get stuck.
