Remove the batteries or disconnect the wires

Pressing the reset button usually helps. Don't remove the batteries because incase of an actual fire occuring, then you won't have an available warning. You can try renewing the batteries of course. Also, you may want to have your house checked for traces of carbon monoxide. The slightest hint of it can make a fire alarm go crazy.

if you have an internal fire sprinkler system the flow switch is ringing. what it does is alarms whenever the line loses pressure due to flowing water. you may have a leak in the system. if you have a low voltage system you may have a short in the sensor. if you can pull the cover off or have any original paperwork there may be a wiring diagram or trouble-shooting sheet.

I'm assuming you mean one of those outside the house, clanging bells, as opposed to an in house fire alarm.

Is it your house? Disconnect the wires.

Is it someone else's house? Call the fire department/cops.
