I don't know about the drugs, but there is a great alternative that doesn't need a doctor.

They are called "sea bands" here in Canada. They are wrist bands that have a bead that uses a pressure point to relieve motion sickness. It really works, and it teaches your body to respond better to motion over time too. I have used them, and so have most of my family. Here they use them in the hospitals for pregnant women so that they don't have to worry about the effects of drugs on the baby.

Also, you don't have to worry if they are leagal in other countries the way you would with drug remedies.
:) Good Luck

scopalamine is the motion sickness patch but it is by prescription only. however, i was able to just call up a doctor and ask them to write me a prescription without even seeing them. they just ask questions about general health and if i've previously been affected by over the counter motion sickness drugs. i used this on my first cruise and got a little queasy for about 30 min. the first night and then was perfectly fine. however, one of the side effects is that it may affect your vision. about half way through my cruise (3-4 days) i was having trouble seeing this up close. my farsighted vision was perfectly fine but ready books/magazines/menus i needed to have reading glasses. all they did was make the print bigger and it was fine. dramamine is for motion sickness and that's over the counter though.

Yes they sell motion sickness pills over the counter. Be careful with them. they can cause a lot of side affects. My sister took them and had hearing loss while she was on them. it went away when she stopped taking them.

Yes dramamine is very good, but it really does put you to sleep!! so if you are going on a short flight/ride, be careful cause you may still feel very sleepy after that.
