There are so many business and family's that haven't recovered from Katrina yet, till it is a dull shadow of what it used to be like.
There is a lot of building going on, but that has actually jacked the price of everything through the roof.
I lost everything, and I was one of the lucky ones, at least I had family in another state that I could stay with. I had the option to rebuild, but the cost made it unrealistic for me to stay.
I would have to say..... give the town another 3 or 4 years to get back on its feet and it will be a great place to live, if you like the 24/7 life style. Before Katrina the town never slept.

Even before Katrina, it was getting cluttered with casinos and other unsavory aspects. It used to be a fun place to spend the day (I used to live in Slidell, LA, about an hour away) with all the beaches and stuff, but once gambling became legalized along the coast (inland casinos were illegal there at the time), the beach scene became cluttered with hotels and casinos.

But if that's your thing, go for it! You might want to wait some time until the city gets back on its feet.

Before Katrina hit it was a good place to visit.. but now wouldn't be a good time to visit unless you plan on helping in the recovery.. it is very limited on place to stay, not many casino's are back up and running yet.. It is really a heartbreaking place to visit right now..

Other than the fact that Katrina destroyed it, it's ok.

However, they are rebuilding, and they have tons of casinos and stuff. It shouldn't be too bad once finished.

that place was erased with Katrina, I heard. Is there anything left? And also, keep in mind, it's the deep south, if you don't have a problem with that, then all yours
