There are times when I wish we could just isolate ourselves....not even be aware of what is going on elsewhere.

I know it is a fantasy, but does anyone else share it?

I don't, unless I could kick all the other people (Americans included) out of the country before putting the dome up. I don't think that the rest of the world is significantly more messed up, on the whole, than our own country is. So isolating ourselves wouldn't do much good, and it would do great harm at least for a while. For one thing, we could no longer import oil or export food, so our economy would be in real trouble for a long time.

Besides, I like the rest of the world. I'd rather visit Europe than New Jersey, for one thing....

Absolutely not...I think alot of the problems that we have internationally are the direct result of how we have isolated ourselves in the past unless it became either profitable or a possible financial liability for us not to become involved. I think a lot of the resentment toward the US is because we think we know what's best for everyone else but we haven't even a clue sometimes about the history that lead things to where they are today. No, we desperately need to be more connected with the rest of the world but in a more positive way.....our image is failing us of late. Besides, how can a claddaghmamma not be a bit concerned about what's going on in the old homeland?

Hell no.....America is boring. People from other countries add excitement and morale to America and thats what makes America so great and also special. There is no other country like America so if we block everything out (good and bad) then it will take away from what America is all about.
Plus not being aware makes us uncontious and in my opinion all people need to be contious of there surroundings so we can learn and educate others.
Also if we block everyone out, America would not have much because most stuff is made in other countries.
I think your fantasy is a waste of thought and more focus should be put on UNITY amongst everyone in the entire world then this would be a better place and things like Depression, Bi-polor, and Suicide would probably decrease dramatically.

No, because we have some pretty crazy things going on here as well . . . like 2-3 serial killers operating in the Phoenix area, all the child abuse stories where children are not fed & are abused, etc. It we were under a magic dome, the cancer may become worse and we may self destruct.

Not over the whole USA.yes life can be rough at times and you need some time to sort things out now and again. but you also need to expirace different modes of how people think about the same things and how they handle them to form your own opions.
If your screename has anything to do with your type of religious thinking then study the celtic way of life and its older forms. other wise just wrap your self up in meditation for the seperation you need when life gets to crowded and hetic.

I escaped from America... so I wouldn't mind if they put a dome up. What keeps us out... also keeps them in.
