My reasoning is this: What with the irrefutable evidence of a rise in CO2, esp. since the early 1970s, have we (thinking ESPECIALLY of Americans--U.S.A.) been driving more (suburbia, malls, etc.), sitting more, and hello, the size "6" of today being the size "10" of 20 years ago? I guess I am reaching for ways to deal with my dismay of our culture of the sanctioning and encouragement of recreational eating, particularly when the health care providers do not seem AT ALL to be addressing this vigorously with their patients; this I am seeing from the medical reports I transcribe. Two-fold question, then:
1. An obesity / increased atmospheric CO2 connection? AnyBODY want to WEIGH in on this one?
2. Why is obesity something political, something that we must now re-word when describing--e.g., all "overweight" and no more "obese" as descriptors? When did this culture of encouraged overindulgence begin? How did this sacred COW come to be born?

Well, you are completely correct in asking these questions, especially the second one.
I personally don't think that the condition of being obese actually affects CO2 level, but on the road to findign out how society, especially in the USA, is becoming fatter, you are bound to find cause for increase in CO2 levels.
Like for instance people use their cars to go to places where they could have easily walk. The power and unnecessary resources it takes to feed the country are also ridiculous.
As for the obesity issue. People should get a grip on themselvs and stop being fat. Snap out of it and realize that in many places in this, our only home, Earth, there are people who are never full, not to mention having any food at all. I mean, I watched a show on the Discovery Channel, and they were interviewing the fatest woman in the Guiness world book of recors, who was incidentally from the USA, and she said that when she went on a diet once and felt hunger, she realized that she never had bofeore and that made her think about all those people who are hungry all the time.
Maybe in needs to become a political issue. People who are obese need to be embarrased out of their over-indulgent ways. That not only goes for food, but also for shopping. People are so much in debt because they buy things on credit that they have no way to pay for, most of the time they don't even need those possesions.

This has been on my mind for some time since I watched some shows on the topics. Thanks for asking your question.
