I have a computer that have been inactive for about a year because it needed repair. Now the computer is up and running but i cant apply any changes because i forgot the password for my administrative account. Is there a way i can get around this and gain full access to my computer.

You can repiar or just reinstall windows. Then make a new admin account. Then you can take ownership of the files. Here is a microsoft article on this.

Unfortunately when this happened to me all I could do is wipe everything out and start from scratch. I was still paying on the computer at the time (Dell), and thankfully one of the techs was able to walk me through the whole thing. Took about 3 hours.

if your pc have windows xp you can restart it , and startup with safe mode , ( for safe mode ) when windows is coming up use F8 , when windows startupes wirh safe mode , click on administrator icon , then go to control panel , and change your administrator password .

Boot off of a system CD and re-install your operating system
