Syria backs Hezbollah.
Hezbollah is a organization that started to resist the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon in the early 1980's.

Hezbollah is a militant group based in Lebanon. They have a political wing which has elected members to their parliament. They have one goal, and that is to defeat Israel in whatever way they can. I believe they get backing from other countries, such as Syria and Iran.
