im not sure wut nokia model my phone is - i received it secondhand from someone - and i tried locking it, with the belief that it didnt have a set code, but instead of asking for my PIN, it asked for my PUK number, which I figured out, but then asked for a new PIN#, which i set, but asked me to verify - so i typed the same, but didnt work- now it says SIM card rejected. what can i do?

An unlocked phone, is a phone that would work on anynetwork. Regardless of brand and type you can use it. Some would rather getting a Unlocked phone rather than leaving there provider for one that has better phones. Unlocked phones are more expensive than provider branded phones. Example, i know people who has T Mobile, but has a IPhone, thats exclusive only to AT&T. At the end of your contract if you dont have a Unlocked phone already, you can get the your phone unlocked by the provider.

There is no way you can unlock the SIM card now. I have the same problem before. You can only enter PUK number several times and after that the card will be dead. You need to buy a new card, which means your number will be changed. All information in the SIM card from previous owner will be lost.

The generic codes are *# or 1234. It's possible that your cell service can reset it.
