Zidane is in a different league as a player compared to Materazzi, now or ever. He was a more influential player throughout the World Cup too. He is considered one of the greats of all time. But his actions towards Materazzi was out of character and was punished accordingly. Just leave the man alone.

Zidane duh.....what did Materazzi ever accomplish? Only managed to disgrace one of the greatest players of all time. Zidane has many goals, is known for amazing talent and skill and he was definetely one of the reasons why Brazil looses to France and he was the one that led France to victory in the 98 World Cup. He himself won the Golden Ball in this year's world cup and was Fifa Player of the Year 3 times. Amazing. Comparing Materazzi to him....that's not even funny.

Materazzi

Whoever said that Zidane's actions were "out of character" surely is not familiar with his history.

Neither.

Fabio Cannavaro all the way! He was just outstanding at the World Cup, both as a player and a team captain.
