I use "Dettox Mold and Mildew Remover". It takes a long time but it has completely eradicated the black mold in my bathroom.

I used to think tha the only way to deal with it was to cut it out and replace the caulking or sealer. That's ok but you have to keep doing it every few months because the mold just comes right back.

Spray the stuff on to the mold and surrounding areas and leave it for an hour then rinse it off. Do this twice a week for a month then once a week. When I started to use it I saw an improvement within a month and the mold had dissappeared completely in 6 months.

Keep up the spraying once a week to keep it at bay.

Robert W. is correct! I have been dealing with moldy bathroom walls for years...the best way to keep it under control after using the bleach and borax is to use KILZ paint after cleaning to get a fresh start, and keep it from getting into the walls again. Depending on how the walls are prepped, I would begin with two coats of KILZ primer, then paint with a semi gloss or gloss paint, which inhibits the growth compared to satin. It may be worthwhile to use a vinyl wallpaper, and caulk the edges so that mold will not get in underneath those edges, if you prefer a quick cleanup in the future.

Here's what I've read. Bleach will kill it on the surface, but mold puts down roots deep into the wall and bleach won't touch it. So far the only thing that seems to work deep down is borate or boric acid. You can get a box of Borax in the laundry section of your store.

Try also doing a google search for killing mold. You'll find lots of suggestions.

X-14, Tilex and Lysol Mold and Mildew remover are all good. They are stronger than household bleach and are made specifically for the job.

Be sure to Open a window for ventilation- these products can be very caustic.

BLEACH!!!!!!!!
and water. Oh, and let the bleach soak in for about 3 minutes.

Sadly, you may want to check to see if the mold is coming in from the back of the drywall....especially the black mold. It could be from water damage.

Good luck.
