Have you seen the campus of the Art Institute of Colorado? Is the campus nice or is it considered to be sub par? It's on 1200 Lincoln Street kind of by Colfax Avenue.. I heard Colfax is a bad area. And if anyone has pictures of the campus I would be happy to see them :)

I'm afraid Colfax still retains a bad reputation from a few years ago when it was the center of bad behavior in Denver! Yes, there are homeless people begging on the corners and assorted crazies that you find in any big city, particularly its central core, but you don't need to run away because a location is "near" Colfax!

That being said, the building of the AIC is four blocks away on Lincoln in a renovated office building. I used to work in a building one block away. "Campus" might be stretching it! The surrounding area is office buildings, some retail and restaurants, just on the edge of the Capital Hill neighborhood. Nothing objectionable at all. Right next door is one of the hottest nightclubs in the Denver, The Church (actually was a church!). If you're at all used to big city living, you'd have no problem with commuting to and from the area. If you're a country girl, then it will be a great experience for you. If you have the chance to go to AIC, I'd highly recommend it!

Now wait a minute....Colfax is on record as being the longest street in the United States. It's 26 miles long.
Not all of it is in bad areas. In fact, there are some areas that are really nice.....like up by the Colorado Mills Mall.

Now, to be quite honest with you, I don't know a whole lot about the Art Institute. I do know it'a a bigger school.

Actually, when I was looking for an art school to go to, I was most impressed with the Rocky Mountain College for Art & Deisgn. It is a smaller school with smaller classes that really focus on student/professor interaction.

Hope this helps!

I haven't seen the art institute but the area near Colfax is probably the worst area of Denver, just so you know. Although the worst area in Denver is good compared to some of the other bigger cities.

I dont live in Denver, but I go there a lot. Its a city so you get the city. I dont like it so much, but an hour drive will get you into the mountains which are beautiful. And if you going into art, Colorado is one of the most beautiful places to be.
