reality that is for me is my manifestation. for the other beings in my illusion that would only mean they must be manifesting me at the same time. ideally for positive purposes, otherwise they must be deleted. you cant manifest as such alone, well i guess thats not true. you can, but i think thats when one gets a nice trip to the spa. i'll take my facials and massages at home thank you.

The best answer is, 'It depends on who's point of view you are talking about.'
From the individual's point of view, reality is a process that occures in the brain. Our senses take information to various parts of the brain where it is processed and perceived by the conscious mind. this process is 'reality' as an individual perceives it. This process can be altered by something that affects the brain including trauma, alcohol, drugs, fatigue or mental illness. In those cases, 'reality' as perceived by the individual may be far different than the reality perceived by a second individual.

Without any individual to perceive it, there is still a reality. For example, the far side of the moon or a planet orbiting around a distant star are 'realities.' They don't need a person to perceive or comprehend them in order to exist.

The best word in perceived, not created. When we look at a red rose, the image enters our eye, where it is inverted by the lens. The inverted image falls upon the retina where it is converted into electro-chemical signals which travel down the optic nerve Into the back part of the brain. The electro-chemical signal - which is inverted and has no color, is 'perceived' by the brain as a red rose that is not inverted. The brain perceived a red rose from the electro-chemical stimulation. It did not create the living rose in the flower pot which was seen and perceived.

;-D Luv those roses, huh?

No. When I was an undergraduate back in the 1980s I thought so, but I've since changed my mind.

Of course our descriptions of reality ARE our own inventions, but reality itself exists independently of us.

Yes. The mind creates reality and the senses perceive things as real. But there is no such thing as colour to a blind person and no such thing as sound to a deaf person. Reality is way past our understanding and I think there are parts of life that we cant yet observe because we dont have the senses to perceive them. If we were all blind except for one person, how would he/she describe what s/he is seeing. Reality is created in the mind.

To some degree, yes, but there are some things that we have no control over, but on the other hand, we do have control of how we react to those circumstances. So, yes, reality is our own invention........Good stoner question!

How could that be possible? That everyone invented the same thing (more or less) in their minds?

If it was our invention, it wouldn't be reality!

Yes, that's why it's called subjective reality. It's based purely on the processing of sensory stimuli and comparing that result to previous sensory stimuli memories.
