We're on this together. I took the chemistry exam last month and received a 500 on it. It's pathetically low, but that's because I didn't study.
I see that you are studying, but the problem is, you're distracted. You see your family having fun and you just can't concentrate. You should set out a plan. For instance, you can study every other day this summer, and play the other days, or you can study five times a week and play on weekends. Just set up a specific plan that will make you follow. By the end of summer, give yourself a little reward and splurge your money on something that you've been eyeing.
If you have a fixed plan, I guarantee you'll follow it because that means you'll have a few days to play as well. Good luck on future exams!

I took both tests and I studied all summer for the SAT's. I ended up getting an avg. score and same goes for the ACT's. From my experience and perspective, it's something that you can't really study much for b/c they test you on things you should have learned throughout high school. There's no use going back and studying everything you were taught; you are best off reviewing for it. Kind of like, "it's either you know it or you don't."

Your determination will pay off in the end. Imagine how you will feel when a college accepts you based on your score. You would probably feel guilty if you spent your time at the beach and took your test again with no improvement. Maybe you can try studying at the beach (if you're not easily distracted) All i can say is --Good luck! ;)

Taking practice tests for the ACT doesn't look bad at all. usually colleges just want you to send in your best scores, and don't ask for ALL the ACTs. However, With the SAT, colleges want All your scores so be prepared to take it only once and do well. otherwise you have to report all your scores if you don't do as well as you like. For all these tests, get a practice book (barron's, college Board, ACT prep) and do the practice tests. It helps a lot. good luck!

Its how well you understand the material and can focus . If your mind has a tendency to wander onto subjects like what you could be doing instead then you Will have trouble remembering what you have just read. some people need absolute quite so they can study . others need something like music to help them to relax so the material soaks in(but you might run into having to hear the music when you are taking a test to bring the information to the surface). others might need to go to a place like a library to get into a serious studying mood.

study the words at the beach. do the princeton reveiw course. spending $1000 got me a $20,000 scholorship. if not for my high SAT scores i would not have gotten the scholorship, and if not for princeton reveiw, i would not have gotten high SAT scores. even if you have to shell out the cash yourself, its a worthy investment if you give it alot of effort and put in the work.
