Last time i asked this question i wasn't very clear about a lot of things, so here's what i meant about the junk yard rocket. could it be done if it was a community project, with volunteer engineers from the local university, donated parts and other contributions from local businesses and fund raising events to raise money for the project. As for fuel and how to knowledge please view this link. If a single individual like this man can do it what would stop someone else.

I went back and looked at your last question because I didn't know what the heck you were talking about. I'm not so sure this can't be done.

There are two critical things here - first it has to be a one-way trip in my estimation (basically just hit the moon), and second the payload would have to be VERY small - like a pound would be shooting for the moon (sorry for the bad pun).

I'm inclined to say it can't be done, but I can't dismiss it without some in-depth calculations. If you're truly interested in what this would take - contact me and I'll be glad to help you with the calculations.

I think this would be very very tough, but with the computing power and number of smart people available with time on their hands, I just can't rule it out without some more thought.

That is OK, but check out Armadillo Aerospace, especially the first source, which is a perfect test flight video!

You know he might get lucky and not kill himself if he ever gets off the ground. But I think I would wait and let the pros do this. He will not be allowed to shoot that thing off and it just come back down un-guided.
