Do you believe that innocent bystanders will die because it's just part of war and it can't be helped? For example, why can't we just blow up Iraq with its terrorists? Isn't protecting our nation important?

Hmmm...maybe I went a little far with the whole "let's blow up Iraq" thing. I think the point I'm trying to get across is that sitting on our butts and yapping doesn't seem to be getting us anywhere with the situation between us and the terrorists (unless I'm wrong - if so, please enlighten me). If we want to live in "peace," shouldn't we root out the problem and exterminate it?

Do you think that our utilizing the atomic bomb back in World War II was necessary?

The most annoying part about the whole thing is the fact that people get on here and repeat propaganda, over & over again, and before ya know it, no one really knows whats goin on, and the story that started out a certain way, ends up being something completely diff!

As for the war, its necessary! You like your American freedom, dont you?? We have our Military to thank for it. No one likes casualties, but, its a part of it all, and they all realize that they have to stay until the job is done, no one knows when that will be, I guess, until the day comes when they all do come home!

We can't kill all our prospective enemies. Our goal has to the opposite of killing, defeating, shredding or mutilating. Our goal must be to get along with others. Make peace not war! However, making peace does not mean giving in or surrendering. We have to have a will trained and equiped military to use in time and situations when aggressive people are pushing us or others around so we can push back.

I am not pacifist, but I am a humanest, and the only way to make peace is to continually work toward peace.

The irony of the Iraq War is that it has made the World a more dangerous place, not a safer place. This war has also been wrong handed, Bush's policies and ideas of bargaining are very much like L B Johnson. LB knew what he knew and knew it well, but he had no idea who the Vietnamese where, or how to talk to them. And so everything he tired failed except he did not get us into a War with China. Thanks for that, we survived that learning experience, but we failed to learn anything, or at least, Bush and others like him did not understand the meaning of Vietnam.
It is amazing but true. Bush is of the 60's generation and missed the meaning of the 60's, 70's and so on.

The feeling towards the War in Iraq and Afghanistan is one of total sorrow and bewilderment. We have to do a complete reevaluation of who we are and who is it that is out there in our World. I can tell you one thing for sure, The Iraqi's are not who we think they are.

The Iraqi's are a proud people with a great history. So are the Iranians. And all the other groups in the Middle East. These people are the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. They have not forgotten nor do they doubt that they are great people.

We need to treat them as such.

No, we can not blow up a country that is populated by everyday Iraqi citizens. There are far fewer terrorists in Iraq then citizens. We would then be not better than the terrorists!
War is a necessary evil. No civilized nation really wants to go to war. Iraq was given every diplomatic option several times, over several months BEFORE we went in. No, I don't like war. But, sometimes the other person/country leaves you no other option. We will always defend our country. We have an obligation to defend our citizens/military (as several of our military forces have been targets, NOT during war time) from countries that breed hate for and cause the deaths of our fellow citizens.

No, you blowing up Iraq hasn't helped anything except further alienate the Muslim community and deepen their hatred towards the Western world. Look at Iraq now, car bombings everyday killing American soldiers stationed there. And how are you any safer than before the war?? And how do you account for all the civilians who will die?? Don't they deserve to live?? There are terrorists everywhere else too, if you want to wipe them out you'd have to systematically bomb the entire Middle East. The US government's war on terror is really starting to backfire on them, they should put down their big bully stance and negotiate agreements of peace with the leaders of the Middle Eastern countries. But it might be a little too late for that now.

If blowing up Iraq could eliminate the entire problem, then I'd say "go for it" (well... maaaybe).

Unfortunately, it'll do nothing. Trust me. Terrorists aren't all concentrated in Iraq.

And have you considered: Perhaps the people in Iraq think of Americans as terrorists too? Different viewpoints are always food for thought.

I think we should have stayed focused on the real problem{Osama}before we even considered jumping on anyone else.
Iraq had no way of hurting us.
As far as innocent lives being lost,..yes unfortunately it is just part of war .
War is never a good thing, but unfortunately it is sometimes necessary.
The world leaders that declare war on one another will still be alive at the end of thier wars,{probably}.
Thier soldiers and thier citizens are the ones who die.
I support our troops 100%,.. but not our government.
God bless our troops!

Do you really think that all terrorist live in Iraq? They're all over the place. What about the innocent people in Iraq should they die just because they live there?

I think the leaders of the country's going to war should be put in a room together , until they come to some understanding or draw first blood . The people of the countries fighting would not be exposed to all the deaths of their family members and terror of war .

I have never seen war as the answer to anything, it is good for living things. It has never solved anything and has never led to peace. The Iraqi war is no exception. I am 60 and have seen my share of war and the destruction that it causes and while I do not have an answer war doesn't either.

Wow! You are very ignorant! Blow up a whole country to kill a few terrorists...war isn't easy for us who go out there and fight we only do it because it's our profession and we are the last ones who desire a war. Only idiots like you and armchair generals who have never been in combat make or say comments like that. I don't like war but it's my job.
