This is a bullion coin, weighing 1/10th of an ounce of pure gold. The actual coin weighs more than that, though, since there is also copper in the alloy. The value is mostly the value of the gold. If gold is $600/ounce, then it would be worth about $60. The previous price is ridiculous.

From the Official 2007 Red Book of coins

2003 $5 gold coin is $65.

I paid $60 a few months back for the 2004 coin.
Don't pay more then $70 if you are buying.
