Best way to share large files with one person?

I am looking for a way to share large files with a friend. I've tried sites like Rapidshare but end out having to break the files into several peices. Are there any services,prefferably free, that can handle really large files. I don't want to use a file sharing service because the files are being shared with only one or two people.

You can use Winrar to compress the file and make it smaller in size. Then, you can upload it to yousendit. Yousendit accepts files up to 1 gb. It will send an email to the address you specify giving the download link.

How large are these files? It may be cheaper in the long run and less hassle to just burn them to a CD/DVD and give them to the person. However, depending on how far away they are it may not be such a good idea since mail can take a while.
