Boy, do I hear you on that one! What an unbelievable waste of time it is for an employer (been there, done that). You just can't help but wonder what kind of irresponsible loser that person will turn out to be if he/she can't even manage a phone call to cancel a job interview. Sorry-you hit one of my personal pet business peeves.

Unfortunately, it is a sign of the prolonged prosperous economy. There's always another job/interview just up the street, because somebody needs the help bad enough.

Not all young people are like that. I'm well aware that just not showing up is really rude. That's why I call. My generation seems to think the world owes us something. Not sure why that is.

Wow. Way to stereotype. I don't think you can just classify young people as doing that. I know plenty of "old" people that do that. They've received a better offer elsewhere that they are going with.
