I think a lot of people allow themselves to be "whipped" because they don't have the confidence to stand up for themselves or the ability to be independent. Good relationships should not have one partner dominate all the decisions and emotions. Mutual respect for one another is always a key to happiness. In an ideal world, if someone's partner took them for granted, they would get dumped immediatley for showing a lack of appreciation. I feel so sorry for your best friend, and thanks for getting the word out to people who might be in the same situation as her!

I wasn't whipped, I argued my points and even emailed supporting evidence when I had time. I did things I wanted to do and if they chose not to come, I still had a great time. I was however very naive. I actually believed that they were getting a divorce. And to top it all off, when that piece of $hit decided to run off in the night like an honourless dog, it was without notice and get this, that fvcker stole my car!

No, actually I'm single. And if I were dating someone, or married, I wouldn't be whipped like that. Some of those are just crazy.

Libby,

I like the insight you have...we don't always live by it but then they would not call it experience for nothing.
By the way, that's a cute pic of you!
