1. They're exepensive to get initially.

2. You have to pay to get them filled every 2 weeks.

3. They weaken your real nails to the point they would easily break/peel/chip without the acrylics.

4. You have a higher chance of getting nail fungus if the tip(s) start to lift.

5. They're a real pain to take off, and refer to answer # 3.

I think that's all the cons I can think of, unless anyone has more.

I just think natural looks best regardless if your nails are shorter or longer, but that's just my opinion.

The cons are, when they file your natural nail, with that damned electric filer, it wears down your natural nail. There are salons that do it less invasive. If you take the nails off yourself, it will cause your nails to be very brittle and thin. Only have them taken off at a nail salon.

The best way to go is to have a silk wrap put on your natural nails. It doesn't look as nice as acrylics.

1) They are expensive to maintain.
2) They will break.
3) Your natural nails will become all gnarly and nasty.
4) You can get bacteria and fungus infections in your natural nails easier (ewwww...)
5) You will have an excessice amount of bacteria hiding out under your fingernails.

I'm sure there are others...

Going to a salon that looks clean, but is really crawling with bacteria. A girl I worked with got this awful nail infection and her nail ended up growing back all deformed and nasty looking!!!!

Your own nails become thin and brittle, you can possible get a fungal infection under the acrylic nail and you have a possibility of ripping your own nail off. ouch! plus side they look good:)

frick i hate them i got them for my first time here we go
cons:
they saw down like 5 layers of ur nail;this is very unhealthy
two-they sometimes hurt when removing
three-your nails will look bad for 3 months and will take form when you take them off so ur nails are very fragile.
4-you have to deal with the ugliness and let it fully grow out. dont put any nail polish on it because your nail is very sensitive especially when you take off the acrylic nails it takes off another couple of layers

you can do it for a reallllllllly special occasion
but if you get them have fun with them. most people who get acrylic nails just keep on going because it looks so bad growing out.

ooo yeahhh one more thing!!! i kept scratchin my face when i had these nails on..during soccer season....and under these nails there was so much bacteria i guess i had like one pimple or sumthing and the bacteria got in omg it looked like i had a disease on my chin it was humiliating i wanted to to put a paper bag over my head and die. i went to the doctor. it looked like volcanoes i dont want to explain anymore but i have scars. its sucked. so just becareful and DONT TOUCH ur FACE!!

bye!

they destroy your natural nails. but they look good and hold polish for 2 weeks! when you take them off, be ready for a good month of brittle nails that tear easily. take calcium supplements.
