What is the difference between Resale certificate and Resale Tax iD?

Some vendors require a Resale tax id but I was unable to get one forom the state of Massachusetts because all its require is a resale certificate for the vendor.

Resale Certificate is the document proving the resale of a property while a Resale Tax ID is the number of the tax arising from the resale of a property.

ID is just a number.
A certificate shows when your ID expires.
