G'day, we have dial-up internet and want to use 2 laptops to surf at the same time. We have a network cross over cable - what are the settings that we need to enter so we can surf at the same time?

as Nigel has said should work ok
the problem is most certainly the speed
dial up is 56 k or less
half that and both laptops will have trouble loading the page
(causing errors)
if you are using dail up limit it to one laptop at a time.
use you network cable to access each others laptop only

Hi Nigel
You recently gave some advice re connecting 2 laptops to same dial-up.
We did as you suggested, however each time I open internet explorer I get my home page, followed by a message "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". Can you help, I get this every time I log on.
Thanks
Jackie

well as we know the dial-up connection is extremely slow and if you share the connection at the same time, it would be very very slow. So the best thing is use each laptop only one time

Well, I'd use a wireless router, which is a great tool on broadband, but as someone else pointed out, on a dial-up, it is almost a waste of time
