I was just wondering how many people have had a doctor tell them they were having a boy/girl from the ultrasound and at birth the found out the doctor was wrong. Im having a boy, Im happy about it....but I was just thinking we have got a lot of boy clothes, bedding, ect and what if the doctor was wrong. I have heard that ultrasounds could be wrong, but they said if the doctor tells you that you are having a boy its pretty much set that your having a boy but Ive heard that sometimes a girl could be mistaken and actually be a boy. Anyway Im just wondering if your doctor told you right or not?? Also I know what ultrasounds are suppose to be more correct these days so it may be less common then use too.

Nothing is 100% accurate, it all depends on positioning of the baby and how well the tech knows what to look for. I havent had a wrong gender prediction with either of my pregnancies, but my girlfriend was told she was having a boy, and at 8 mths she was told it was a girl (it was). Whatever you buy, either make it neutral colors, (green, yellow, multi-colored, etc), or keep tags on for easy returning. Normally when boys are predicted its better odds of being correct. If you get an ultrasound done around 5 mths, and your still worried, go get another one about 7 mths. This will ease your mind. Good Luck.

If the doctor pointed out testicles, count on having a boy. There are now 4D machines that allow you to actually see your baby's face as well as other parts. So ask you doctor about that option. You can get a better picture of little boys when you go into your ultrasound appointment with an extremely full bladder for some reason, their legs fly right open and you may get a better contrasting view.

I was told I was having a boy sevral times 'casue I had several ultrasounds, the picture was so clear that even myself could see the pipi. so they were right on.

Now.....

With my sister they told her it was a girl, and she had a pink baby shower and everyhing she got was for a girl, until two weeks before she was due, they told her it was a boy, she had to give everything away and buy boy stuff, which they did after the birth of my nephew 'cause they were skeptical, they wanted to see with their eyes that it was actually a boy before spending any money in boy stuff.

I'd suggest you to have a 3D ultrasound if you are unsure, those are usually more accurate than the traditionals. I have to agree that boys are not as mistaken than little girls. in my case I am now 6 weeks pregnant and my husband and I will have a DNA blood test done to find out the sex of this baby early. the baby's DNA passes into your bloodstream and they look for either X or Y chromosomes, depending on what they find thats what your having, you can get more info about this in this link:Tellmepinkorblue.com.

Congrat!!! Good luck with your pregnancy and God bless!

I've kept both my pregnancies as surprises, but I did have a co-worker this happened to. She was told she was having another girl so didn't get any new clothes or redecorate the nursery and then out popped a boy. She had to send her mother shopping while she was in the hospital because all the baby clothes she brought with her were pink! I think they tell you that the ultrasound is 80% accurate.

it is very possible that the ultrasound could be wrong, it depends on the experience of the person that is giving you the ultrasound.. when my mom went in to have an ultrasound done when she was pregnant with me, they told her 2 seperate times that she was having a boy.. low and behold, she had me, a girl.. boy were they surprised!!

Nor the Ultrasound Tech or Dr's prediction is wrong,it can happen in a rare case,if so you can sue the Dr or the company who makes the Ultrasound Machine..As you shave hair..But you are assured your safety that blade won't hurts you..so there is nothing Dr has predicted..he depends on Ultrasound..like the blade we trust..

Ultrasounds are accurate for the most part. If it says your having a boy then you have no worries.
It's only if it says your having a girl that you should be worried. If they see a little penis then its a definite gender.

Have a 3D ultrasound done, there is no mistaking it then.
Here is a link with some info about them. They are really cool, you can also see what there face looks like later in the pregnancy.

yes my brother was told they were having a boy, and they outfitted the nursery and closet with blue. Their daughter wore the dress that I bought her home from the hospital, and my mother (grandma) and I had a great time returning everything and picking all girl items out. So be prepared for anything.
