I look younger than I am and I have a slim/athletic build. I want some vintage wash/custom fit clothes and like some of the stuff the stores I mentioned have, but I've always seen them as teenie-bopper stores. Am I wrong?

THANK YOU! It's good to know that you have $$ sense. These stores have astronomical markups on their stuff because of the marketing power of their name. Labels are status symbols. Usually, the clothing in these stores define what's in style for your age group, but that doesn't mean they are the only place to get the exact same look. Look at what they have and then buy it somewhere else. Your money will go a lot further and you'll have a lot more fashionable clothing for your buck! (Want to get a laugh?-Walmart and some of the top brand stores use exactly the same manufacturers-the only difference is the label.) Sometimes you get what you pay for, but unfortunatley marketers think teens are too stupid to figure out their little game. Teens are NOT stupid!!! It's insulting that they think they can convince you to pay $30 for $15 shirt. Spread the word.

Yes, you are too old. When I see people your age or older wearing abercrombie I think "wannabe's" Im only 20 and already am trying to move away from their clothes. They shouldnt be worn by anyone over the age of about 23-25. They are meant for people ages 15-21. There are lots of clothing companies that have things that would look better on someone older. I think men over 25 look better in classic dressier clothing. Nice shoes, nice shirt, I would recommend department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom.

No, you'd be a creep to shop at those stores. Go to a thrift shop ... if you can't handle that:

Go to J.Crew, or find local stores with solid shirts (like small-time taco sheds, head shops, pizza joints, etc.) and great "vintage" pants/shorts can be found at smaller shops and they're typically better quality. I've got a place "watermonkey.com" locally here in Portsmouth, NH with awesome cargo pants, cargo shorts and all sorts of badass vintage clothes. There's got to be something similar near you ... otherwise check out the watermonkey.com website.

Shopping at teenie-bopper mega-chains is pretty weak for anyone over 20.

Good luck with that.

It's not about your age, its about how you feel. I am 29 and still shop at these places. They have great merchandise that fit most ages.... Always try the clothes on and if you're in doubt then you should not buy it. Abercrombie is the best, I love their jeans.

Trust me....I shop at Aeropostale, American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch. You are not to old. People just think stores are sterotypes...and they are wrong. Truth is, they are clothing stores. Screw what other people think. They are only jealous because you can afford nice clothing.

I'm 24 and I wear jcrew clothings...I don't know I'm sure you can find clothings that make you "look your age",if that is what you want. You are not wrong,it is your money,if you like that style go for it,if you are unsure, you can try to shop at Express(for men) my brother shops there, so that's how I know they have decent clothes for guys your age!

You can shop there, just look for the clothes that look a little older for your age group. Abercrombie especially is perfect for your age

You can still shop there, but better yet, why don't you shop at a non-generic-prep store? They seem like teenie-bopper stores because all of the generic conformist teenagers shop there.
