Please ignore the banter of the ignorant. Try reading the following wikipedia entry for a better description of his humanitarian pursuit:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Che_Guevara

As you will notice, the entry contains biases from both perspectives.. but, from it you can draw your on conclusions; whether you consider him a socialist or a communist (there are important distinctions).

As an attempt to answer your question:

After Che completed medical school, he realized the extreme poverty that many global citizens were forced into. As a result, he focused his attention on international politics and fought against economic inequality. Economic equality at the international level (as well as within industrialized nations) would drastically weaken the strength of these nations. For this reason, he posed a risk to America and other industrialized nations.

Also, did you know that the widely distributed photo of Che was considered "the most famous photograph in the world and a symbol of the 20th century"?

Thank Fidel for that. After the revolution and after Che became useless, he became Che right into a cult of personality make certain. a logo and hero of the great revolution who became safely useless so he would not develop right into a humiliation later. So Fidel placed posters and images of Che everywhere. Now the emblem has spread, and little American wannabe Commies can bypass to warm topic on the mall and purchase Che Guevara blacklight posters and T-Shirts with their allowance funds from Mommy and Daddy and proclaim how proudly Socialist they're. maximum couldn't even outline Socialist now to not coach clarify who Che Guevara genuinely became.

The Bolivian army with the help of the CIA killed Che because of his publicly stated quest to destroy all western/capitalist countries of which the USA was the prime example. He was a major player in the Cuban missile crisis and was a strong supporter of the USSR which was a major threat to the US during the cold war. He essentially dedicated himself to revolution in any capitalist ally of the US in an attempt to setup socialist/communist governments in their place that would support his cause. He openly acknowledged his view that it was necessary to kill his opponents and often did so brutality and without due course of justice.

I agree with rd that you should read up on it on wikipedia as well as Che's writings and speeches and see for yourself. While he did ideologically support the idea of helping oppressed people, this became little more than propaganda and a rallying point as he helped setup the most oppressive government in the western hemisphere -- hardly consistent with the naive ideology of the young Che that is portrayed in the Motorcycle Diaries movie.

Your assertions about the death of Che Guevara are in error.

Che Guevara died at the hands of the Bolivian Army in La Higuera near Vallegrande on October 9, 1967. Participants in, and witnesses to, the events of his final hours testify that his captors executed him without trial.

In addition he a Communist who was dedicated to revolution in Cuba, Congo-Kinshasa (later named the Democratic Republic of the Congo), and in Bolivia.

He was not a nice person.

Humane? Are you talking about the same "Butcher of the Cabaña "I'm thinking of? He personally oversaw the killing of thousunds of dissendents of the revolution. Put simply, he tried to kill off democracy man by man in Cuba. He also tried to spread communism throughout South America, something the U.S had many resons for stoppong.
