Unfortunately falling in love is like a moving train...you cannot stop it right away. If you are really serious about your efforts, then you must back away entirely, and let the emotion subside on its on. Divert this energy by getting involved in other worthwhile projects. Try and do something each day to help occupy your mind. It will be difficult but you must work on it.
Don't dwell on thoughts of him...this will make it harder. Continue to resist and move on with your life.
With your effort, eventually it will pass.

If being afraid to fall in love with someone is being dishonest, like Daniel A said ,then I guess I am dishonest with myself. Yes I am afraid to fall in love. I don't want to get hurt or anyone else in the process.

I had my heart surgically removed and replaced with a smaller Harley engine...seems to do the trick.
No...seriously...you do have control of your emotions. You have self control as well. If you use your self control to steer you away from situations that may place you within close proximity to that other person that will allow your emotions to strengthen to such that they won't easily fall for that other person. Just remember...love ain't that big-a-deal until you're in your twenties so enjoy life rather than having your heart broken time and time again right now. There's no rush. So YOU don't rush it.

You can't stop it. It's a feeling. If you don't want to fall in love with this person then you must walk away from them and not be in their lives until you can get over it.

I think that is my problem, cause when ever I get really close with a guy, usually around the same time of length too, I push away. I think that when I am really in love with someone that it will fix itself

Unfortunately, falling in love is not a preventable condition. My question to you is why are you afraid of of this emotion?

being afraid to fall i love for some one, means fear and insecurity, the feeling of love will dominate though, and if as it does you if are not honest, the fear will create drama and wreckage, if you are in love you are guided by your most powerful emotion which will win.
Stop questioning, take a chance , try to be objective

I don't think falling in love is a choice. I fell in love with my wife after only knowing her for couple of weeks, we married after 6 months. We weren't looking for love, love was looking for us....truely a blessing!
