not all. I am an athiest, but I dont talk about it unless asked. I suppose you are right with that analogy for that certain person, but not all athiests are like that. I kind of think of it the same as when people preech their religion. kinda annooying, but if thats how they choose to spend their time, then so be it. just ignore them.

I have found it to be the other way around lately (christian hatred towards atheists), on this site at least. I am an Atheist and I am not hateful, and the so called talking about god that we do is questioning it just like some people question our beliefs, that is what usually happens in a religious arguement. Personally I don't try to preach my beliefs to other people, I have spent a great deal of time researching religions and came to find that I don't really connect with any of them that is why I chose what I chose. If I may ask a question why did you choose to be whatever religion you are? Although I presume that you are a christian.

Since when do people try and force you to believe in fairy tales or try to impose the values of Snow White and the seven dwarfs on you. Try examining why the religious are hated.
by the way I can't think of any atheist like that!

You, my friend, are now guilty of placing blame on all atheists for something only some have committed. This is like a few days ago when I asked why Christians are such snobs and why do they look down on others....I was called a biggot and was told I was ignorant because I lumped all Christians into the same category. It seems that you are now guilty of the same thing my Christian friend.

Well, people like you who make such broad generalizations probably fuel some anger. You asking that question is akin to an atheist asking "Why are Christians so stupid?". It does nothing but create tension and prevents any true debate.

Not all atheists are hateful and angry. But, if they believe there is no God, then it follows that the end of our lives is just the end...no further life. That concept would be very sad for me, personally, so I think if I believed there was no God, no Heaven, no more life for my soul, it might make me angry and bitter. When you know in your heart that God is there with you through all your troubles and joys, and you feel His presence during times of stress, it helps you to be happy and content.

Ahem! I am not an angry, hateful person. Perhaps you are over-generalizing just a wee bit? One atheist has been angry and intolerant, so we all are?
Many religious people seem to have a need to shove their beliefs down everyone else's throats. We godless folks get a bit fed up.
If someone bothers you, ignore him. Don't call innocent people names.

Because there is a certain, ahem, "gachildofgod" who goes around calling people "idiots'!! Maybe Jesus told you to do that - or was it Allah?
And because of IDIOTS like you who are destroying the world.
This is exactly why we are VERY angry at all religious peoples who use their non-existent gods to justify everything from slavery, murder, blowing people up, rape, killing virgins, etc. etc.
This has been going on for THOUSANDS OF YEARS!!!
Religious people are destroying the world! When will you people STOP?????????
Will you stop when atheists rise up and slaughter all of you in anger???

What great answers. I was going to point out some of the best points made but as I kept reading they just got better and better. I am an atheist yet very spiritual. We all need to learn tolerance and acceptance of others' beliefs or lack thereof. This individual certainly doesn't possess those traits. Thank you all (especially those who spoke negatively of atheists) for validating my choice.

Beats me. Why do you talk about your religion
Why do Muslims bomb Isreal
Why do Christians send missionaries all over the world
I Am sure that you talk about your religion. At least Athiests are not killing in the name of God. the few athiests I know (including me) are very nice people. We just like busting your chops, becasue we think anyone who believes in god is an idiot.
