If your laptop is now WIFI ready then why not go to nearest McDonald in your area right now, so you can check it.

You have nothing special to do, no special sign-ups or special configurations or settings needed in your laptop. Just open up your computer when you go to McDonald. If something pop-up on your windows or system tray then click to connect. You will be connected in a couple of minute.

One thing though, Internet connection at McDonald is FREE, sandwiches and softdrinks are not.

If your laptop doesn't already have a WiFi card installed (which is a rarity for laptop now-a-days), you can buy a PC card version, slip it into one of your PC Card slots, configure it using the software that comes with the card, and whenever you go, if there is WiFi to be had your computer will tell you and you can connect.

If there really is a lot of free WiFi in Singapore, then your laptop with the card installed and operating should notify you about it.

Good Luck and be careful to use only trustworthy networks.

Ok, Wi-Fi is sometimes in a HotSpot by T-Mobile. When you enter the Wi-Fi area, you should receive a pop-up in your screen, saying that there is a signal. Next, you open the Internet Explorer, and a HotSpot page will also pop-up. You will have to pay for the internet. Like if you stay for an hour, that would be around 5 dollars, you do not have to pay anything if you have the T-Mobile HotSpot service in your account, and you do not have to pay anything if you are staying in a hotel with Free Wireless Internet. But HotSpots and Wi-Fi are not free. And McDonald's is not free. It is a HotSpot from T-Mobile (Wi-Fi Area).

Shouldn't have to do much. Just turn on your wireless adapter in your laptop and if everything is set at defaults, it should connect. If not, the WiFi hotspot provider should have details at the specific location.
