Well, Jodie (and may I say I'm a BIG fan), according to a recent Gallup poll Mr.Bush has made more of us Democrats than Republicans:
"In the eight national polls Gallup conducted in the first quarter of 2006, an average of 33% of Americans identified as Democrats, while 32% identified as Republicans and 34% as independents," Gallup adds. "More Americans have identified as Democrats than Republicans in each of the last four quarters, although in each case the advantage was small -- from less than one percentage point to three points."
This should come as no surprise to anyone who looks at the economic data. Democrats probably do want your money, but Republicans want control over every aspect of your life! Mr.Bush's veto today goes against the wishes of over 60% of Americans! He's doing all he can to hand power back to the Democratic Party.
Vote Democrat & get a good accountant!

What point is there to go "Democrat" or "Republican" in the first place? Are you identified solely by one of these political labels?
These labels make no more sense today than the other knee-jerk labels "liberal and "conservative".
We live in a world where most rational thinking has given way to sound bites and name calling through the broad application of these senseless labels.
I believe in stem cell research. Does that make me a liberal? At the same time, I believe in harsh punishment of criminals. Bring back the chain gangs. Does that make me a conservative? I believe in decriminalization of things like prostitution, gambling and pointless marijuana laws that clog our legal system. Am I a liberal? I don't believe we need to change the Consitution for things like flag burning and a dozen other things. Why? Because I'm a constitutional conservative, recognizing that the Constitution is a pact between the those that govern and those that are governed. That's what our forefathers intended.
My point here is that we need to stop defining ourselves and our peers through these labels. There are ideals in both political parties that I embrace and many things in both parties that I abhor. I'm quite certain that the major parties are both equally corrupt and have the principal purpose of keeping the power in the hands of those who already have it.
You want to change the country for the better? Stop thinking in terms of Democrat, Republican, liberal and conservative. Those are mythic concepts, designed to inflame our passions.
What we need is rational thinking on the issues and that's not the province of politicians.
My suggestion is go to beyondpartisan.org and do some reading.

Well I am a Green Party, but I vote Democrat for the national posts. The real question is when will we have an election where the guy elected actually gets to be President. We haven't had that since Bill's resouding victories.

Although I agree with Chris S, I don't think ever. Our country was built on a system that gives people choices. I am all for choices. Since it looks as though our gov is moving to a more social state and neither the Dems or Repubs are doing much about it, I am contemplating joining the Libertarian Party. As the more I learn about that Party, the more I think they represent my goals for America's future.

When the Republicans quit buying their way to power, people are already democrat, it just doesn't matter, because well do you see every vote counted? No, nobody does. So how do we know what's really going on? We don't. All the republicans do is go to the voting centers and say "We'll pay you this much if you report this". Democracy in action.

Can't speak for the masses, but for this particular person, when they take their party back from the left-wing lunatic fringe.
I ask for a sane, rational leader...you give me Howard Dean.
I ask for a leader with solid morals and character...you give me Bill Clinton.
I ask for a leader who I can trust not to give away American sovereignty...you give me Al Gore.
I ask for a leader who will make a decision and stick to it...you give me John Kerry.
I ask for a leader who won't pander to the crowd of the moment...you give me Hillary Clinton.
And you wonder why I don't take the Democrats seriously?
Neddie: You think for yourself? I didn't know. You don't show it around here...

well.. people have been... just a few more percent have been going Republican... like 2 or 3 percent to be exact..
so, a very, very small minority would just have to change their vote... and it would go Democrat... as far as a President goes...
Republicans labor under this illusion that they are this vast majority... keep thinking that... and don't vote, because it doesn't matter... you can't loose since your such a majority
