Snails in a saltwater tank are different than in a fresh tank. they don't reproduce like crazy - in fact most people are resupplying thier tank every year or so.

With turbo snail you can to one per every couple gallons. Cerinth or nassa snail at least one per gallon. They will burrow in the sand and help keep you sandbed clean. I like a mix. Depending on what fish you have in your tank you could even get some of the mini-hermit crabs - like the bluelegs - they really help scavange the tank.

Don't recommend snails. Snails reproduce asexually and they'll just infest your tank. I suggest the dwarf suckermouth catfish and it's not that expensive. Regular pet stores carry them (petco, etc.).
