Actually, the old question is does it make a SOUND, which is a different question than NOISE.
"Sound is a disturbance of mechanical energy that propagates through matter as a wave. Sound is characterized by the properties of sound waves which are frequency, wavelength, period, amplitude and velocity or speed."
"In common use the word noise means unwanted sound or noise pollution...data that is not being used to transmit a signal, but is simply produced as an unwanted by-product of other activities. In Information Theory, however, noise is still considered to be information."
Cleary Sound happens even if there is nobody to hear it, as it does not require being perceived by a living thing to exist. Noise, however, must be distinguised as being something apart from the desired signal, so it requires human or animal perception and even intelligence.
So the answer is NO, if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one around to hear it it does NOT make a NOISE
But it does make a SOUND.
Per Wikipedia, at least

Does the tree grow in the forest if you are not there to witness its existence?
If you stub your toe and you are home alone, do you make a sound?
If the answer is yes to either of these questions, then yes the tree would make a sound if no one was around to hear it.

OF COURSE IT DOES. It just can't be proven since no one is there to hear it. But using the scientific method we can run test with recording devices that will record the sound and from those test we can estrapolate that if 100 percent of the time when a tree is falling with something to record the possiblity of a sound being created, it creates a sound then, when nothing is there to prove that the sound is bieng create, it still will in fact be created. It just can't be verified.
But here is something else to ponder... Why do we drink water? Is it really ok to drink something that fish crap in??? I stick to Booze with all that alcohol it has to be clean...

Here my point of view. Does a tree make a sound if it falls and no one is around? Yes, of course. Not only because the breaking trunk would make a heck of a roar and the sound it will make as is speeds down, plus you add the crash of it all and any of our woodland creature friends it squishes, then scientifically yes.
Now, did it make a sound of a human wasn't there to hear it? Yes. I think we, as human, give ourselves way to much credit for being put here on this earth. So something will make a noise if we're not around. Time moves on even if we're not around. River flow even if we're not around to witness it.
That's just my opinion though :)

The absence of an audience does not negate the fact that a sound is made when a tree falls.

Of course it does. A noise is a noise is a noise whether someone is there to hear it or not. Don't understand the mystery in this.

Yes, the tree still makes a sound if nobody is around to hear it. The production and transmission of sound waves are not hampered by the lack of people to interpret them.
